My husband has one of the Argos small ones and cooks all his meals in it . He swears by it. I also bought my sister one and one for Mum. They were £4.99 each and perfect for 1 or 2 people. I also bought my sister the 6.5 litre one for £14.99 earlier in the year and took it to her when we drove to see her in Switzerland. Perfect for cooking meals for when we get back from skiing each day in January.0

I am bored with my slow cooker! I put the same meal in the oven and it cooks quicker and looks more appertising. ( crispy bits ) i'm not convinced these things save money energywise.
Agreed. I took mine back! I used it twice and the results were not as tasty as in a casserole in the oven. Add to that the heat loss through the sides was huge - the fuel use would have been the same as in the oven. On both settings the liquid boiled; not what I wanted.
A slow simmer on a light bulb's energy was the target!
And it took up so much room in the kitchen for no added value.
Thanks for the OP as it is a bargain, just not for me.
Argos was great about taking it back :T0 -
Picked mine up on Sunday, braved the snow!
Wow,I love it!
Made a delicious casserole yesterday and it was so easy and so tasty.
Chucked in cubed mixed veggies, cubed steak and some stock with added herbs. Left it for 7-8 hours YUM YUM!
I need a small one now for just the two of us when not cooking for freezer:o:rotfl::o:rotfl::o:j I love bargains:jI love MSE0 -
I have mine but not certain it's gonna get used or save me time as one still needs to cut, prepare, brown off prior to full cooking & leaving it on for hrs. Will that really cost less than using my conventional oven?0

Hogshead,
I just chopped veggies into big chunks and chucked in the meat without browning it.It was delicious!
Its also the fact you can leave it alone for hours and have to keep an eye on it. No constant stirring etc.
Off to try Chilli with a jar of sauce and some cubed steak adding kidney beans a few extra herbs/spices.:j I love bargains:jI love MSE0 -
Hogshead- take a look on the old style board
there are loads of people who are addicted to the slow cooker. For instance did you know you can cook a whole chicken in it? Or gammon in cola? Both amazing by the way!!!
