Hey Jwil,
Thank you, am feeling a little better, just need to stay strong. feel a bit down today as received a letter from bank saying they are going to charge me £19 fees for being in my overdraft and for using an unauthorised overdraft for a day. All for the sake of a few pence over which they actually paid for, it infuriates me totally.
I think I have also combated my spending feelings by cleaning and NOT LEAVING THE HOUSE or putting the internet on. The house is lovely and clean, not clutter free I would like to add but still I will be able to clean and keep on top of it whilst I sort through things. It defiantly helped me.
just need to really focus now, this diary helps me so much.

It's completely normal to feel that way, I do quite a lot. The thing that motivates me most is the thought that the £700 a month I pay towards my debts will all be mine to do what I want with once I get them paid off. So I want that £700 per month more than I do most other things. I do fall off the wagon sometimes, but you have to just get straight back on there again.
I cant believe how much you are repaying a month, that is a lot. How do you find it all? Your amazing, you really are.
When you fall off how do you get back on? Your very determined arent you?!Clutter clearout - 12 bags

Well done! I'm glad you are feeling better. To the bank charges though, it is so frustrating, especially when it is just a few pence.
Would you like to come and do my house now?unsavy_with_£ wrote: »I cant believe how much you are repaying a month, that is a lot. How do you find it all? Your amazing, you really are.
When you fall off how do you get back on? Your very determined arent you?!Thanks!:o I'm not amazing though - I was silly enough to get myself into this level of debt, I now just have to work my !!!! off to get out of it.
That £700 covers my minimum payments. Luckily I have enough out of my wages to pay that. Once the mortgage and other bills come out though, it doesn't leave me much at all. That's how I don't spend - I don't have anything left! So I try and raise more money - hence the ebaying, amazon, surveys, bingoport etc.
I have to pay it back - I hate living like this, so that is what keeps me determined. I think of all the things I could do with that £700!
I'm not perfect though - if I have any spare cash I do spend it and occasionally I blow out. I don't beat myself up about it though, just pick myself up and carry on. You'll see from my diary that there are plenty of days when I am on a downer and wondering how I'm ever going to get there. Usually it doesn't last too long and I read other diaries on here to get some inspiration and get my motivation back.
One other thing - DH and I are fans of car booting. We go a lot at weekends, and it's nice browsing. I can often pick up a few bits for only a couple of quid. Shopping without breaking the bank! We'll sell quite a bit too, so get rid of clutter and come back with some cash!unsavy_with_£ wrote: »I am very impressed with myself, last night the OH wanted a take away but I thought about my meal plan and also about the bank account, we didnt need that take away, our store cupboards are full thanks to the online shop I did! That's brilliant! Well done! :T:T"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
I have only just come across your diary. In the latter stages of my relationship with my ex, I started buying, buying, buying. He left me with a lot of debt and when we split, I realised I had a spending problem. At one point I had 37 mascaras, 42 eyeliners, 7 foundations, 16 bottles of perfume.... All partially used so unsellable. I also had a stack of CDs/DVDs that I'd bought because they were on multi-buy offers. I had un-worn shoes, dresses, everything. I lived at home with my paents and had a maxed out credit card!!! From splitting with my ex, it took me 18 months or so to clear all of the debt.
For the first time in my life, I'm working to a budget. I still don't meal plan properly; we really should though. I have credit card debt, but it's from my annual work train ticket so I would have been paying that amount off each month anyway. Other than that, the credit card is used for securing bookings for our forthcoming wedding, with money transferred from savings to cover it.
It does get easier. Sometimes I still want to spend, spend, spend. But if I see something I want, I'll wait a while to see if I still want it a week later. If I do, and there's money spare, I treat myself.Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -

Refreshing to see loads of people in the same situation
Both partner and I have good job but have still managed to clock up the following debts over the last year or so
£9000 credit card
£6800 overdraft
£6000 personal loan
Paying £250 month to credit card/£277 per month to personal loan
Nothing to overdraft at present.
After all otger outgoing can afford at least £1000 per month ,which would I be better doing, aiming to pay one off completely or split in 3.
They are all around the same interest charge .
Have also done switch on utilitilites/inurances and cancelled major treats for the next 12 months.
Ebaying everything that is not screwed down.
Ideally want to be debt free in 12 - 15 months time
Any advice however small is appreciated.0 -

Welcome, although your best bet would be to start your own thread detailing all your debts, completing a SOA and let the powers of the people here do their thing.
If you just post here, not only does it detract from someone elses diary it is likely to get losts and ignored.0 -
