Woken up with a sense of low feelings, worrying about christmas (its quiet normal at this time of year, its when the cc comes out) and thought how I dont want to be like this next year.

Also been thinking about how I can reduce our monthly outgoings. I think I need to cancel the gym membership the OH is paying for, I can do exercising at home and walking. free exercising!

    Need a lightbulb moment!

Perhaps you need to do a proper statement of affairs. The calculator can be found here: http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html

If you go by the last 12 months and what you spent on everything, (divide by 12 to get a monthly figure) you can then see really what you are spending and what you need for things like insurance and car maintenance. If you format it for MSE and post it on here, people will be able to give you suggestions on how to make savings.

I'm FAR from debt free - this is what I do now, so I can still buy things. There's no way I can afford it otherwise. But it stops me from having a 'sod it' moment and blowing loads of cash on things I don't need. When I'm debt free, I'll probably still do some things as I quite enjoy them, but I won't HAVE to do them which will be lovely.

As I mainly buy books, I read them then sell them again once I've finished with them, so it works out that I can get some cash back too.

Your doing so well, you really are! Its such a great way to be able to continue the spending but actually working for it (as in solely doing things for spend, not for the dreaded 'BILL' money!!) And its good that you enjoy it!

Thats good too about your books, you have got it worked out and I like it! Its how i want to be!! :o

I just want to be positive motivated and get on top of everything, but I want this to be an all the time thing not just every now and then

  • Good evening everyone, well having a down day, not achieved anything and I feel so bad for it, I feel so unmotivated again, could I be depressed? Am already in my overdraft and I don't know why so am now going to have to sit down and go through everything to check what's gone on. There's so much I want out of life but I seem to be at a stand still, I can't seem to achieve what I want and don't feel I've made any progress whatsoever, why can't I be a get up and go person? Why can't I be a person who is organised in a clutter free house? All these questions but I lack the answers

  • Woken up a little more positive today but with a terrible urge to go shopping, what is wrong with me? Am i just on a downer? All I want to do is shop either go to the shops or buy online...

I am sitting here with my cuppa and got bingoport on the go to try to win some points but thats not going very well.

I start something so well then it dwindles and I get the feeling I have got right now. Its not good. I dont feel good.

I need to try to shift this spending feeling, its not good. Ive seen a pair of boots which I dont need but I cant stop thinking about, is that normal?

what is wrong with me?

It's completely normal to feel that way, I do quite a lot. The thing that motivates me most is the thought that the £700 a month I pay towards my debts will all be mine to do what I want with once I get them paid off. So I want that £700 per month more than I do most other things. I do fall off the wagon sometimes, but you have to just get straight back on there again.
