Thanks guys
I know, wouldn't you think the person you're talking to has electric bills too, so would think there was something wrong with that!
I'm glad we have been running the energy monitor now as that helps with arguing how much we do use - it's been going for a week now and we have used just over £9 worth. I know it's summer so no heating and less lighting but that's still a huge difference from the massive £40 a week average their bill claims we are using!
Even with the differences in time of year and the things we have seen are costing us money through the monitor so have switched off the figures just don't tally with what they are saying.
I will await the outcome when we put in another set of meter readings on Monday but am going to refute the bill until someone has been out to check the meter - if they say that it is working properly then I'm going to ask them for a much more detailed breakdown of quite how they have arrived at those figures. I am prepared to do battle as it is money that we can ill afford
Have also had a call from OH he has been to the garage with a flat tyre and it had a nail in it - cost of £70! Going to have to go to the pub tonight and try and collect some wages as he has had to dip into his petrol budget to pay for it and payday is still a way away.
Not going well with the unexpected bills at the mo - very glad that I started the emergency pot, although I needed to get it to £300 and then go to the dentist for a crown at least it's there in the meantime if something else gets more desperate.
I have recently been getting annoyed with working so many hours but think for the short-term it's definitely going to have to be grin and bear it while the money stuff irons itself out.
Just seen your sig Jules - well done on losing an inch that's great progress! :TDebt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
bad news about the tyre, these things always happen when you least need them
I had a crown done last month, it was £204 on the NHS, and I got a white one without having to pay any extra (unlike at my previous dentist where I was told it was £200 +150 for the white one). Also had three fillings and a scale and polish done all included in the costLittle monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Wow, that's a good price at the dentist! Going to clarify costs with mine then as it is also supposed to be an NHS one. They also said I should go to the hygienist - at a cost of £48 that is not my top priority at the moment!Debt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0

£5 to Lloyds this morning
Cashed a check yesterday at Lloyds for $15 - took 20 minutes, filling out a lengthy form, told it would take 5 working days for it to be credited and they are going to charge me £5 for the privilege!! Worked out I'll get about £4 after all of that!Debt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
Hiya
Well done on the payment but gutted about the nail in the tyre!
Keep smiling!Debt - CCV £3792

Been going over my spreadsheets. Again!
Worked out I no longer need to try to catch up my payments. With adjusted goals of £1,050 a month I will still make it to Dec 2012. If I overpay that any month then I will be able to make my goals a bit lower for each month which will help with the months like Dec when it can be harder to hit target.
And I can start on my August goal from today!
Happy with this - feels a lot less stressful I don't know why
Also the July £10 a day challenge has been a bit of an eye-opener. I've forecast that even with all my extra hours my pay after tax will only just allow me to meet the target each month. So I'm defnitely going to stick with this challenge each month to keep me on trackDebt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
I'm way off the mark with my targets for the July Challenge, have a few things on eBay but no watchers yet let alone bidders!
Don't think I can make my target in the next 10 days
That's great about your monthly payments, are you going to adjust your signature?!VSP - £14.76 | Saving for a Deposit0 -
Signature changed
Nice to get rid of March!
£1,050 is a good goal too - I'll have to work to hit it each month but it's not unachieveable so I won't be setting myself up to fail either
