LOL yeah but the tassimo bought with points isn't actually costing you anything because you earned the points by doing your everyday shopping, they are just a thank you for shopping at tesco at the end of the day.

You misunderstood my post - you GET 2000 Points at the moment when you BUY a Tassimo.

Unfortunately, they are £120, which is £40 more than anyone else is selling them for and they are only going for £60-£70 on eBay, so not really much point in buying a few of these, as the exchange rate isn't beneficial enough (after eBay fees etc)

Rubbish tesco do not want to give anything back. The whole purpose of the clubcard scheme is to Incentivize you in 1) shopping mainly in tescos hence they make more money and 2) spend more money in tesco. If tescos could get away with out giving you any thing back they would and this is certainly why they are trying to devalue the scheme. They feel they can give less back and get away with loosing minimum customers hence maximizing their profits.

Profits are all they are ultimately interested in. So whos greedy now tescos or the consumer!!!!

To encourage Brand loyalty by giving visible rewards, is not new. They were coupons with cigarettes, there were Green Shield Stamps, and I can still remember my old Co-op number!
But Tesco have taken it to a different level. On the one hand it encourages people to use they store, and on the other it enable the store to analyse patterns of spending. This in turn enables them to predict demand, and therefore more chance of supplying what people want when they want it.
Double points, followed after the first double-up voucher promotion, and was only intended to be a short term promotion. It has been a success as - more people have signed up for Clubcard, and when the vouchers go out, business increases in the stores.
Reality is the over 80% of Clubcard vouchers are used in the Stores. Therefore far from devaluing the scheme, it is being enhanced by maintaining double points and increasing deals such as the Instore-Voucher Exchange. So more customers are satisfied and come back for more at Tesco.
Sure, such people will not find as advantage as before, hence the six weeks notice. Moreover with slightly less demand for 'deals' perhaps they'll be less complaints here about the Hotel 'conditions' etc.

I still consider that I get a good deal out of Tesco Clubcard.

Last year we had enough Points for two Business Class return flights to Vancouver - worth upto £13500 for the equivalent cash-price flexible tickets (which is what you effectively get)

This year we've beaten that already. Without effort.

I phoned them up on Tuesday as I'm owed an extra 400 points from a summer offer. The bloke told me that I need to call back on the 23rd (which is the last date you can earn points for this quarter) and check they've gone on, or possibly even the day after that.

Werll he lied phoned today (as they are shut on Sundays - which he didn't even mention) and they told me it's too late for them to add the points on for this mailing and I'll get them in February's statement - fat lot of good that'll do me. :(
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

Deanos, the changes are being implemented to allow Tesco to keep double points going.

If Tesco decided to get rid of double points instead of changing the deals you would end up with a lot less.

Nope this is part of tescons marketing stratergy

    1)Put double points in place
2)Tell the customer that they need to reduce the partner rewards to x3 but hey because you get double the points your still better off.
    3) 6 months time when it is all settled down sneakly pull double points replacing it with single points.

    Customer worse off

How have Tesco ripped you off? They offer this as a freebie and are within their rights to change the scheme.

Tescos continue to rip off their customers.
Example persil small and mighty 54 wash version tesco price with a bonus on 100 points if you buy it £12

    Sainsburys price £9.99
