  • Soda cystals are very good for soaking baking tins/pans in (any with burnt-on food), very effective.

    Hello Everyone
I've been lurking here for a while now and thoroughly enjoying all your posts - so much so, that there have been days when nothing got done, because I've been glued to my screen!...Thanks everyone!

So, now I have a question please...I am dying to try the soda crystals to cut down on washing powder and the vinegar instead of softener tips, but could some kind person please tell me how much to use for a normal washload?

That would be listed in our MEGA Index sticky at the top of Old Style.

    Start from:-

    MEGA Index

    Then choose:-

    Cleaning

    Then choose:-

    Laundry

    Then look for:-

"How much vinegar and soda crystals to use?"

Since the original soda crystals contain no phosphates, enzymes or bleach, they are entirely biodegradable.

  • Hi everyone. I live in a hard water area and have been using Calgon in my washing machine but it is very expensive. Is washing soda the same thing for a quarter of the price?

    Hi there youngatheart,
There is another thread somewhere about this and I'm not sure how to make a link for you. Have a look down the list in OS. It's there somewhere...I think it's titled Calgon.
Anyway, the main point made on it seems to be that soda crystals are the same but cheaper, Yes! HTH

I asked this once on here and a lot of people replied that their husband/dad was a plumber and reckoned Calgon was a total waste of money - the SC work very well. I mix it in my washing powder anyway.
