Ah the hardship of being a cat! Mine are outside chasing leaves and Cracker is sulking because he got a foot up the behind for attacking Peaches. He glares at me through the kitchen window from the garden wall.

Valli glad puddy is ok - hope you have a great day in the mud!

back a bit earlier than usual and bathed...

I had a muddy bum cos I slipped... now have a new hi vis vest though - we get to keep them!

First couple of years we did this we got all sorts of junk out - trolleys, a wheelchairs once (honestly!) bikes and various bits of flung (dumped scrap)

Now, although there is rubbish (and TBH some of it blows across from the recycling bins near the shops when it's windy), very little big unnatural rubbish, but lots of blockages caused by fallen trees which then trap smaller trees/branches. Once again the storm dam (designed to keep flood on fields) was almost blocked by a tree, but a strong man shifted it!

Photo of me in said high vis vest will be on facebook when I have worked out how to rotate it!

Pleased to report that the onion soup was yummy! If anyone wants to make some, this is what I did.

    1. Thinly slice about 6 small onions into rings.
    2. Heat a large frying pan, or wok, and add some olive oil.
    3. On a low heat, add the chopped onions, and sprinkle with a teaspoon of brown sugar.
    4. Cook the onion for about 30 minutes until caramelised (stirring occasionally to prevent burning).
    5. Make 2 pints of vegetable stock (I used value veg stock cubes).
    6. Add the stock and a dried bayleaf to the onions.
    7. Add about a teaspoon of soy sauce.
    8. Simmer for 20 minutes.
This is like french onion soup (more like a broth consistency) - if you wanted to make the soup a bit thicker, you could add a couple of teaspoons of flour to the onions and cook for about 10 minutes before step 5. I had the soup on its own, but you could serve it with crusty bread with grilled cheese on top.

    (This recipe serves 2.)
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
