It is like anything else, seatbelts for example, you may forget at first ( and you could always edit the post ) but then it would become second nature to think which hat you were wearing before you press submit.
I think it would be a good move.0 -
Whilst I think you have a valid point there - it IS MSE policy not to disclose the contents of PMs as I understand it. It think it would be wise if MrsE abides by the policy - and doesnt disclose the contents. She herself could be in trouble if she does.
i think we can all hazard a few guesses - but Mrs E - I urge you to stick to MSE privacy policy on this.
This is why it was utterly wrong of you to say what you did about the PM MrsE.VenusFlytrap wrote: »It was me who PMd MrsE poet, and I would be quite happy for the message to be reproduced on thread if that is what MrsE wished to do as it is not threatening or abusive in any way. I am a longtime lurker and sometime poster on these forums who was just giving her my POV, privately, as I felt it was more appropriate, not because I am a coward seeking refuge in anonymity.
As I said, if MrsE wants to make my PM public on here she can, I have named myself and I have nothing to be shamed about. Hope that clears things up.

Thanks Venus for taking responsibility so quickly. Saved other people wrongly coming under suspicion. Although having read to the end of the thread and hearing the gist, I don't find that threatening at all :rotfl:jackieglasgow wrote: »No you're right Dave, but it is easy to send someone a rude or abusive PM if you hide behind an AE.

I must say I think it would be tiresome for the BGs and largely irrelevant for them to remove their signatures from personal posts. Anyone who accords them such a status as to take their lead from them would know they're board guides, so it wouldn't make a bit of difference. I tend to think they're posting in a private capacity unless they're linking, moving or merging a postYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -

It was wrong of me to say I had a PM that advised me to "think very carefully" about the thread I started???Churchmouse wrote: »Thanks Venus for taking responsibility so quickly. I don't believe I've posted it, so I'm not sure how you know all about it.Churchmouse wrote: »"Aint that the truth, and some even muck that up :rotfl:

I think if you check the other thread, one of your friends has posted that "maybe just because they were wating for someone else to say before they had the courage to do so themselves,

It was not the thread MrsEwas referring to but the PM, which I am assuming you are not privy to, and thus you cannot make a judgement on tone or content.0 -
I think the wording of the policy needs to be precise enough to make it plain that its not just against MSE policy to publish PMs - but also to make it plain that its an "offence" to even give any indication whatsoever as to the content of the PM or express an opinion on it.
Specially when the person gives away that Ceridwen has sent her an abusive pm as her Alter Ego but signed it as herself like what happened last week on old style. :rotfl:0 -
MrsE said that the PM advised her "to think very carefully" about the thread she had started. I took that to be the gist of the PM. Sorry, obviously was a very grave error.I did not mean to imply I'd read the PM, I apologise for any misunderstanding. But my point stands.

Now this was obviously meant to say she thought she knew who'd sent it to you. I will wager my house that she did not think it was Venus, which is why I thanked her for not allowing suspicion to rest on anyone else. Making reference to a PM casts shadows on all sorts of people unfairly. As for "one of my friends" please direct me to the actual post, I honestly don't know who or which one you mean. And I don't always agree with my friends, I am allowed my own independent opinion. And my opinion stands. I am not influenced in my posting by boardguides. Are you??You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -

Sorry, I hadnt seen that post until after you had posted.
You may not be but it does seem prevalent that when a BG jumps one way a whole host of others follow.0 -
Actually I think I was the first person to venture the thought that the thread was some sort of wind up. But enough said I think. Churchmouse, how do you do, I believe I am the friend MrsE referred toIt's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

It was another person on a thread last week. Ceridwen sent them a pm telling them not to post anymore but she sent it as her AE and signed it Ceridwen. Was defo her though coz she tried to delete all her threads as her ae that morning. Just think it's not right that Ceridwens going on about rules and such when she broke them herself. I don't get what his threads all about but had to answer that post.0
