I did get told I should have come in sooner but I went to the docs a week ago and he told me it wasn't infected then and I believed him.
Glad you're feeling better. When I was admitted to hospital with hyperemesis gravidarum the doctor looked at us and said, "Why did you wait so long?" Less than 12 hours earlier an out of hours GP had assessed that I didn't need to be admitted but the one who admitted me thought I was so bad that he personally put the drip in rather than leaving it for a nurse. I think because GPs aren't specialised (and are human) they can misjudge how bad things are. And they probably get loads of people coming in making a fuss when it isn't really that bad.

Its hard for the doctors, especially the out of hours ones because they don't know you. My own GP knows I'd have to be half dead to even dream of calling out of hours lol The one that came here the day I was admitted said he didn't know what to do, although in the end he did say go to hospital.

Tricky in my case though because I'd had high dose steroids and severe anemia and steroid side effects are similar in symptoms. Would have registered much sooner that something was up if not for those.

Merfe I hope you are feeling much better now :)

Although given it's considered to be severe if you lose 5% of your body weight, you'd think my greater than 10% would be sufficient even allowing for potential exaggeration. You're also supposed to be referred if after 24 hours of medication you aren't improving and he gave me a third medication knowing I'd already had two in the last week which hadn't helped.

That was a bad call :(

My mum spent most of her pregnancy with me in hospial with hyperemesis, and being given hormone injections that she was later told were really dangerous.

 It's frightening sometimes the things they've done in the past without realising the possible harmful effects.
