Was it not gritting too? Most gritters have a detachable snow plough you see - before anyone thinks I'm a weird gritter geek, my Dad used to drive the gritters so I only know what he's told me. He was LOLing the other day when someone on the news was saying Manchester have x tonnes of grit so there's plenty, the amount they said was only enough to grit the main roads of a very small town twiceAny question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

Afternoon all..
Welcome and congratulations on your LO's arrival, SkintMonkey(have pm'ed you)
Hope everyone is well - and those not well, get better soon! Happy birthday Josh!
We've finally had a bit of success on self-feeding - hurrah! For ages if we've put food (bite size bits of something or small fruits) on the highchair tray, Rhys would just swipe it to the side or pick it up, examine it then drop it on the floor (so infuriating!!). A few days ago, he picked up half a grape and put it straight in his mouth - cue muchos enthusiasm and clappingHe did it over and over, and has repeated it every day since. This morning, I held his plate and he picked up 14 pieces of grape and mandarin and got about 10 in first time, and he knew to wait until he'd finished one piece before picking up another (in the past, he'd be picking up three more and throwing them over the side in the time he was eating one). So happy he's finally got there and he looks so chuffed with himself
Date for his eye op came through this morning... 24th Jan  We're seeing the eye specialist (who will do the op) on 4th and Rhys' general consultant on 17th, so will check everything is in place by then. The hospital actually have a policy of not giving a GA to under twos but they're bringing in a paediatric anaesthetist from elsewhere (Sheffield I think) who will do it - have met him before, he was there for the second MRI. Also got a letter from Notts today, saying they were okay with the opA bit scary, but gotta be done..
I'm just waiting for my friend to phone. We're supposed to be seeing each other today but she lives out in the sticks and I've admitted I don't want to drive there in the snow (still falling now) so she's deciding if she's coming here since she's more used to their roads for getting back laterOught to get dressed really...
Hope everyone has a nice day xx
PS Anyone know when hammy is back?0 -

Yay - go Rhys!! Good lad! Just under 2 months til his op, I am sure it will all be fine. xxx
I was going to tell you all a little bit about the current national gritting protocol but then I realised I only know about motorways and trunk roads and I am pretty sure none of you live on a motorway!!!

Yay - well done Rhys xx
Roads are bad here. Don't think they have been gritted.
Didn't go to work. Decided it was too dangerous to risk driving. I feel fairly confident driving in snow, but you can't under estimate other people who drive stupidly. Nearly had a crash yesterday as a Royal Mail van rejoined the snow covered main road while talking on his mobile, then swerved back across in front of me
Been playing out with dogs and bairns this morning in the snow instead, and have promised Josh we can go and buy his present at a later date. He doesn't mind waiting. Here I go again on my own....0 -
No snow:(.... apart from 3 snowflakes! Obviously didn't settle and cause too much chaos!!:rotfl:
We used calpol for the first time with the little lady last night. Was upsetting to see her poorly and upset as she's normally a very chilled out and happy baby. She's a lot better today but very clingy... I NEED TO PAINT MY NAILS DAISY!!! Big night out tonight:eek:
Nice to see a few new mummies:)BLOWINGBUBBLES:kisses2: SMARTIE120 -
Oh, and VBF's baby is adorable - I never felt the full on rush of maternal feeling for Miss M, it was gradual over the few days in the hospital and my first feelings were of relief and then hurt/desperation/confusion/somanydrugsmyheadisamessOMGisthatmybaby, but I got a big warm rush as soon as I was allowed to cuddle and sniff lovely little Nameless Conehead. Miss M was wonderful with him too, made happy noises and kept trying to stroke his head and cuddle him. I feel a bit better about the possibility of another already
Right, off now. Lovely days to everyone and hope whatever's not good gets better xxx
I forgot I quoted this earlier. :j For new baby cuddles! And for the bold bit especially.
Elle I missed your post somehow, but hooray for self feeding and eep for eye op. It is what he needs and for the best in the long run thoughMy_Fathers_Daughter wrote: »Yay - go Rhys!! Good lad! Just under 2 months til his op, I am sure it will all be fine. xxx

I very nearly live on the motorway, but not quite. I work on the assumption that so long as i can manage to get to the motorway the the motorway itsself should be fine.
Oh was anyone elses' town centres rammed today? Winchester was crazy when we dropped DH in earlier - I was glad we were just dropping him in and I didn't have to find a parking space.Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009

Lily is asleep! :j
She fights tiredness so much these days and spends ages falling over, crying and rubbing her eyes. As soon as i lay her down she perks up and is very playful.0 -
