  • GISI i like the idea of IOW, but not sure I can convince DH... will have to do some research first I think. Hadn't thought of centre parks, but will add that to the list of places to look at.

The other thing I was going to say is that I've decided to write to someone about some poor advice I received from the HV ages ago. I don't know if anyone will remember, but just before I went back to work (at 8 months) Izzy had a nursing strike. When I spoke to the HV about it she told me Izzy was weaning herself and near enough told me I was wasting my time trying to get her back on the boob. I had already done lots of research myself and knew what to do about it, and was just asking the HV incase she had any other ideas I/the internet hadn't thought of, and so I tried to argue with her, but she didn't even know what a nursing strike was. I'm not traumatised by the event or anything, but it does show a shocking lack of knowledge about BF from a professional who is meant to be encouraging and supporting mothers to BF in the first place and to keep doing so for longer. If someone asked the question who hadn't done their research first they would have been seriously mislead. Now I'm not planning to make a fuss, just that someone in the NHS should hear what I have to say and maybe they can get at least one or two HV trained up on BF (I can even suggest a course or two ;) ) and provide better support next time. Does anyone know who I should direct such a letter to? I'm not sure if it would be my doctors surgery, or if there will be a HV type department in our local NHS trust?

Proofreading help will be required when I get round to writing (don't let me forget!)

I'd complain too Ladybird, it's no wonder that so few women BF long term.

Evans have sent me a reply to my nastygram confirming that my order was cancelled due to a technical error on the website and apologising. I'm still not buying anything else from them ever again, although my mother would have liked that scarf and a 10% discount code would have been enough to get me to buy it.

Argh.. I just wrote a long reply and lost it, does anyone ever have probs logging in? I can rarely get it to work.

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments, hopefully from now on I can report changes for the better.

Som: Unfort I didnt have a 'told u so' moment as T was screaming the surgery down, so I could barely hear what the Dr was saying :p

Newmoney: thanks for the offer of advise v kind of you :) I hope he is happier, he still smiles loads and gigles, its just the inbetween bits, and hopefully this milk might help with his colic as I swear thats getting worse.

What would I do without you lot :D
  • Holiday ideas so far - Ruda (north devon), which we've been to before, but camping. We ended up leaving early because our tent collapsed :rotfl:. Or Haven Devon Cliffs. Price is about the same (£400ish a week, based on 4 grown ups and Izzy... if anyone else comes with us. If no-one else expresses and interest we might go with just 3 of us, in which case can have a 2 bed, so a bit cheaper), but Ruda looks a bit better in terms of activities for Izzy. They both have pools, but Ruda has a toddler club, soft play and a few more other bits that would appeal to her now iyswim.

I do love the idea of staying in a yurt, but I think that would be better with a slightly bigger (and less likely to try and play with camping stoves etc ) child. Will bear that in mind for in a few years time.

Got back home about 8 pm. Amber just has a viral tummy bug and she's not shaking it off. Dic we saw tonight was great though. He said that normally it takes a good 3-5 days in cases like hers that I'm doing everything right she is not medically dehydrated and to use lucozade rather than diorolyte after she is sick. So we came home because there's nothing they can dobthere that I can't do at home.

Off to bed now guys will catch up in the morning looks like I will be missing college this week.
