Smartie, I can easily see how it's intimidating but we do try to get to know new posters and include them - I think most of us do "know" each other fairly well but at the same time we don't want to be excluding new people or ignoring them.
Edit: almost all of the time I don't think people are doing stuff wrong. I try to phrase things so that comes across, I'm sure I'm not always successful, but once again this is an incredibly important resource for me and I have learned and continue to learn a huge amount from other people's experiences and the way they do stuff. Sometimes the thread can get heated, but that's just how things go when a lot of people who have different ideas about how to do stuff come together in one place. The thing I like about this thread is that everyone has the same goal in mind, to be a good parent, and I love that we're all trying to help each other do that.
The side effect of the PT being important to me is that I am defensive of it; it is hurtful and upsetting to me when people turn out to be something other than what they seem, and that goes for people who turn out to be mucky-knicker fetishists, AEs with dubious back story or simply people who are two-faced in their dealings with it.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Is the hair twiddling really a problem? He might just get bored with it and stop. I used to suck my hair when I was a child _pale_ but I don't do it anymore so must have grown out of it.
D twiddles with and sucks my hairIt seems to comfort him *shrug*. If I tie my hair back he sticks his fingers in at my nape and pulls some out
Oh dear, seems I'm a very old fashioned tight fisted Mummy. We're worried about our financial future at the moment, knew this was gonna happen after the election result. *sob*
I am old fashioned too Tara. D is a year old next month and we aren't buying him anything. He doesn't need anything and I am not going to buy something just for the sake of it. We haven't bought him anything for Christmas either. He does get bought new toys/books when we feel they are needed and I think that is more appropriate for us at the moment

Hammy that is kind of what we did. We didn't spend much on Izzy last year because we knew she would get loads from everyone else. I did get her a few bits because we were at the stage where there were a few specific things I wanted to get her which I wrapped up because it was christmas iywim (the same as this year she will get some new pens as a stocking filler because she needs them, but if it was june I would just get her some new pens!). For her birthday in January I got her things which were suitable from 18 months, then once she had opened them we put them asside until later in the year - that is what I'm going to be doing this year too - buying a few small things in the sales which she isn't quite ready for yet, then spending more on her later in the year too once I work out what she needs!

Hi Mel, we were missing you yesterday. Are things ok with you? You were doing birthday party planning and whatnot, how is it all going?

Tigs, I do hope you're kidding. Given your sense of humor, I'm fairly confident you are!
Mini-poll...if you were a stick-in-the-mud meat-and-two-veg family that did not possess much imagination in the kitchen - would bacon in your lasagne instead of mince be too revolutionary?
(it tastes really really nice by the way - we had some tonight!)
My DH loves bacon so it would be more than acceptable! Plus, bacon is meat.

Mel, Bruno was worried about you(so were othersnot just Bruno but I remember it was Bruno who asked after you).
How ya doing?
DH has taken DS1 out to meet his bro. On a Friday night DH, his bro and a mate go out for tea and cakes (oh er they live dangerously!) while their wives (but not me) run a youth group that my boys go to. So they have missed the past 2 weeks due to school being off and they decided they needed tea cake. Read that as BIL decided he needed a go of my new car.
DS2 has fallen asleep next to me and DD is still sleeping from 5.30pm. But we did go to a HUGE park most of the day.
Took DD to get new shoes but she is still the same size. I'mat saving monmey but
because of the lovely boots she could have had.

Aimee chews her hair, does my head in... She also has spent the day doing foul smelling burps... I don't know what my mother feeds her but it's always the same when she's been to stay at Nanny's house!!
No more exorcist style offerings from Caitlyn... She's gone to bed on a slice of toast just to line her stomach... And all teddies have been removed from the cot... (Although Aimee went and gave her back the seahorse... I hope it washes well!)A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
