Hi all
Big hugs to those in need - have been trying to catch up.
A quick update from me - Baby Verity Grace was born on 13 October, 6 days late, 7lb 7oz.
We're all doing quite well at the moment, but have a quick question for recent new mums or those with long memories:
How long before the cord stump falls off? I'm sure H's was off within about 5 days, Miss Stinky Stump still has hers, and it stinks, and there are spots of blood falling off (but nothing major). Obviously I'm not looking for medical advice, just anecdotes!
Thanks muchly0 -
Huge congrats DK - can we have some piccys please??
Thomas's was the full week. I know he'd just lost it before the midwife came for her 10 day visit. She said she wouldn't have been able to discharge us if it had gone over that. I bet she loses it tomorrow now you've askedIf not I'd definitely mention it to the midwife or hv. I don't remember T's being smelly.
ETA piccys of the cute baby NOT of the smelly stump just incase anyone was wondering!Mummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0 -
Congratulations Dribblekitten, and what a lovely name!
Miss M was about two weeks old when the stump remnant finally fell off. It made me sick to look at it the last few days but it came off fine

Congratulations DK, and what a beautiful name.
Henry's cord stayed on for two weeks, and it smelt rank! They weren't worried about it though, although I couldn't be signed off from the MW until it had come off.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
Can I ask a Christmas related question please? How many shiny items does a person need on a tree? I've never decorated a Christmas tree before. I was planning on getting a 4-5 foot one, about how many hanging things would I need?:rotfl:
I tried 'oh the grand old duke of york', but nearly got follow-through at 'york'.
Oh ye wretched pelvic floor, wither hast thou gone?
I am squirrelling away and I love it!! I think Nutkins has done an excellent job, and has put a huge amount of time into hoarding us all some nuts for winter.Mummy to

S's fell off at 7 days, and the midwife said the test to see if the stump was infected was if you could smell it walking into a room while LO is fully clothed. Congrats DK!Mummy to

Really is no wonder I was bullied :rotfl:
Ha ha!! I totally did that on my return from a Spanish holiday too
I also wore actual clogs to school after my dad buying me them on a trip to some place (in Yorkshire, not Holland) that made them :o:rotfl:Buttonmoons wrote: »:rotfl: Don't think I can make the builders conference sadly as I'm back down in Leeds on the 4th of November.
I have a gig on the Friday night but as far as I know I'm free during the day, the train isn't far from there to Darlo or Durham, if people in that area wanted to meet? Sure I coud jazz along. Just an idea anyways.
If nobody there is free I'm in Leeds
Congratulations DK!!! Lovely nameI think Alfie's cord was about 10 days-ish.
Gill that's funny. It does amaze me how many deaths / injuries / general bad things happen in kids' stories but I think that's a good thing generally.0 -
Thanks for all the stump advice, we're seeing the midwife on Sunday to be hopefully signed off so will ask then. I'm not overly worried, I just don't like the ickiness. Poo and sick is fine, but the stump is too much. Am hoping hubby is on duty when it does drop, else I may slightly freak out.
Will try and sort photos soon. Am also trying to get one of my 2 girls together. Easier said than done.0
