But I bet if you dressed him head to toe in shocking pink they'd guess he was a boy... People were always accusing Aimee of being a boy no matter what she wore...

Oh I'm a bad person... My Nana just rang and asked if we'd be in after 4... I told her we were going to a friends after school... I just don't wanna tidy up <shame>
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Tara not sure about the tax credit thing, but if you had children you'd still get the ctc, just not the wtc, see the 24 hour thing, i was always under the impression that a couple had to do 30hours combined or min 16 if you were single,

No, I think at the moment only one has to do 16hrs to qualify, which between 2 seems madness. (Fell free to put me right anyone)
Tara, if you work less than 16hrs then yes it's income support... You're allowed to keep the first £20 you earn, anything over and above that gets deducted from the IS... And you will still get CTC for qualifying children at the basic rate which used to be about £41 pw...

So basically you are only £20 a week better off than Income Support by working less than 16 hours, thanks. :)
Too many children, too little time!!!

Tara are you referring to single parents? Does the 24 hr rule apply to them then?

If you are on about someone in a couple then it would be JSA conts based, or income based if no working partner.
Proud mum to now-grown-up daughter (Pebbles) and two lovely grandchildren (Roxy & Chip).

    How time flies :)

Based on a post that was made last night, I thought this might be a useful link for some. It's a list of the warning signs of dementia.

Thanks for this, will read later as my Uncle looks like he is going down this route going on the past few months experiences, although he also has a water infection which is contributing to it as well. My aunt is coping very well so its all coming down to my mum and dad helping out.
Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.

Way I read it the 24hr rule was just for couples, but I may be wrong. So if one part bof a couple works less than 16hrs, and the other doesn't sign on, what then?

No I agree with you there, cos i thought it was 30 hours a while ago OH got his shifts cut to 4 a week,(back on 5 now) i made him have shorter breaks so he would still hit the 30 hours cos i didnt wanna lose it, think 24 is about right tho for a couple, not someone on their own though, should stay at 16 for a single parent imo, i dont think they've mentioned changing it for single claims tho have they.

Think that would be joint jobseekers then, assuming both parts of couple are able/fit to work. you can work under 16 hrs and still claim JS,

I was also confused about the benefits cap. If a family currently gets £32k in benefits, how can they just take it away. And how is it fair if say, for example, DD got a council/housing association house, but as it's a new tenancy she would be paying double what the neighbours pay. Nobody will move from where they are, people will make do with smaller houses rather than take a new tenancy. Some of this stuff is badly thought out.

16hrs is enough for a single parent, 24 doesn't go far enough I think.
