What about soups? Mine are not huge fans of veg unless they are blended or covered in a cheese sauce but I make a massive pan of soup they like, once a week and it goes down well. They are also not allowed pudding unless veggies are eaten.0

SS, thanks for letting us know about Susan.
CAFC, although we're not doing purees with madam, if she's feeding and I'm eating at the same time, she will stop eating and hassle me for a bit of what I'm having rather than milk. Little monkey grabbed my mince pie last night and gave it a good bite as well. She also makes indignant noises if you try to fob her off with a carrot stick.
Would maybe separating food and milk work with L? Or would he maybe try a bit of his milk from a cup?

The way I dealt with food and still deal with food issues is to consider that I am only responsible for what goes on the plate and not what they actually eat off the plate. So, as wide a variety as I can manage given financial and time constraints - one day they might get a lasagne cooked from scratch with garlic bread and salad on the side, the next day it's a tin of spaghetti hoops or cheese on toast with a few slices of tomato and cucumber. Sometimes they eat everything, sometimes they pick and that includes sometimes eating the lasagne and sometimes not eating the lasagne at all. I have learnt that there are foods my children as individuals don't like (my eldest won't eat eggs and hasn't since being tiny) and so I don't offer eggs to them as a group (I have three children) as I will not get into cooking three melas for them and one for me (although most of the time I eat what they are eating, with them).
I don't comment on what they have/haven't eaten and if there is pudding on offer (sometimes there is, sometimes there isn't), I don't restrict their access to the pudding as a result of what they haven't eaten beforehand. Most of the time I'd say all three of them eat 80% of what I put on their plates. It works for us!0 -
thanks SS.

hes done about 2x 140 mls so far and just had 180mls of water as he had a very "grown up" poo earlier LOL
huge thanks esio, i'm gonna write that out as a god guide, half the problem is DH is very patient with milk feeds so L will take say half and then want a 5 min breather before the rest but DH seems to think thats it, and doesnt go back so in an hour its another bit feed which impacts all the others...
i would print it out but got no paper LOLWealth is not measured by currency0 -
He only bought her the pink barbie TV :eek:
And I can't exactly not let her use it because there'll be contact and a court hearing and don't need him saying I'm depriving her of a Christmas present he got her! He's only showing off and spending so much because of said court hearing
Think I'm going to have to get one of those timer plugs so it can only be used at certain times so she doesn't become a square eyes or stay up at night watching things.
I am so anti tv in kids rooms and he knows it :mad:
*and breathe*
Merfe try ice cream, and thick milkshakes (a la mcdonald's lol) to soothe your throat, try and swallow bits of ice cream whole IYSWIM. That worked for me after having my tonsils out and after my gastroscopy.
Its amazing how some kids are so different re food even after growing up in the same household :rotfl:
perhaps the TV could live at her dad's house so that when she visits she and daddy can watch it together and share some quality time discussing some educational programmes on it:rotfl:
re: fussy eating, my LO isn't nearly as old as the OPs, so not sure how much advice I can give. We fin we have a few fussy days and here and there doesn't bother me. She does have some preferences which I think should be respected. For example, she hates carrots - I have no idea why, but never has - even at weaning stage, I just make an effort to give her an alternative I know she likes (pes or brocoli or something). Things don't always get eaten, but I've managed to work out the days she genuinely isn't hungry and the days where she's mucking me around....most of the time! on those occassionas I'm strict and implement a x more mouthfuls and no pudding rule. Its also up to me what goes on her plate so I feel that I have control over what she eats (mainly).
thats enough rambling from me. I'm off to do some chores, before taking LO for her first ever grown-up haircut!!!! I'm really nervous - which is ridiculous!!!

Well I'd better get Squeak's bottles done so we can go out to do blood tests (oh joy!) might go to the big hospital just because at least if I miss a bus from there I can get others to take me at least part of the way so I'm not sat in he cold for hours :rotfl:
r.mac nice idea but it's going to be supervised contact in a centre (first in 3 years) and I've come to terms with it now but the times will be very resricted ie 4.30 to 6pm weekdays, 7-8.30 weekend mornings and maybe a litle longer on school holiday mornings.
