  • Morning everyone - hope you've had a good weekend! We went to Blackpool on Saturday to have a cheesy seasidey day and see the lights. Went on the 2p slots and ate candy floss and chips it was brilliant! I got a bit excited at one point when I saw a sign for a 'Vintage Clothing Sale' but when I went in it was just a load of CD stalls (not even vintage/rare stuff!) and one rack of fur coats in the corner :(

I also tried out some long boots over my skinny jeans for the first time (I bought them in May and have only ever worn them with sandals) and felt great in them - so my jeans are here to stay over the winter - hurrah! I don't know about any of you, but I wasn't one of the popular or pretty girls at school so I have this ingrained thing in my head that says I can't wear anything too fashionable because I'm not a 'fashionable person' - I'd always thought that boots over jeans were too fashionable for me so I'm pleased I dared go out in them :o

    Today I'm wearing:
    - Black and red dress - Warehouse sale
    - Black vest underneath - H&M
    - Red cardie - H&M
    - Black tights - tesco?
    - Black knee boots - Faith (not sale but 30% discount voucher)
    - Antique ring and grandma's silver locket.
    - Wavy hair because I didn't have time to dry it properly :o

In the newly-emphasised moneysaving spirit of the thread, total outfit cost: about £93 - including my boots I don't think that's too bad at all, the full price would have been more in the region of £153.

Hope everyone's well - have a good Monday!

    and me!!!

    Morning!

Had a fab weekend, it was my 37th on Saturday (in case you missed it!) I got lots of nice pressies. New pink ipod, champagne, chanel eyeshadow, lots of craft books, and loads of vouchers.

We took the youngest to the cinema and then Carl and I went out for a meal on Saturday, yesterday we went to my mums and she cooked me a huge roast beef dinner and a baked cheesecake.

Today I'm in a New Look lacy shirt, denim mini skirt, brown tights and red boyfriend cardi. All last seasons or older, but put together as a new outfit.

I have plans to hack away at some old jeans to make another skirt and some shorts today.

I had a result with the Tesco (not) suede bag. I emailled to say I was disappointed with it saying suede when it wasn't, and the gave me a voucher towards my next purchase.

Hello everyone, I'd like to say I hope you are all well and had lovely weekend but that might be too chatty ;)

I'm attempting to glam up a bit, I feel dowdy, but still sticking to my usual 'ageing grommet' style, I think accessories are the way to go:

very wide legged blue jeans (Miss Selfridge about 3 years ago)
a black off shoulder jumper (ASOS 5+ years ago, back when the stuff they made was really flimsy and WAGish but I do love this jumper)
Wooden pendant with a stag on it on a long silver chain (Etsy)
A long string of black, amber and turquoise coloured glass beads (so old I have no idea where it came from)
Big black and gold ring (Primarni)

    ETA : hair in sidebun
Ohh and I bought a Tuca Tuca solid perfume at the weekend, it smells lush :)

Same here! I remember really longing to wear knee high boots and short skirts but was too fat and frumpy for that. Still haven't attempted it :o

    Anyway, outfit today is:

    Skinny jeans - DP
    White vest - Primark
Vintage cream pointy collared shirt with a pattern of diagonal squares in brown and 3 shades of blue - £2.99 from Oxfam :)
    Pearl studs - not sure
Cream and tan brogues - River Island sale
Little square stone coloured handbag - originally from Next and looks brand new but £2.49 from a charity shop
Stone coloured jacket/mac thing - 50p, car boot sale.

I actually wore miniskirts with boots years ago, but had a sticking point with the jeans - strange our little foibles aren't they? Maybe try with leggings rather than tights if you're self-conscious?

It's cold in my cupboard in work so today I have on , black brogues, red socks, navy pleat front chinos, blue spread collar shirt, navy and red striped tie, green ¼ zip jumper.

Anyone got a good source for patterns - I want to make a patchwork waistcoat?

You can usually pick patterns up for fairly cheap on ebay but I would have thought you could use one of your waistcoats as a template and save buying a pattern?

    Afternoon, lovelies!

Just eBaying like mad and getting up to daye with blogs in between.

Hope everyone's well. Alex is right, Douglas, use an old waistcoat as a template or if you've got an old scruffy one unpick it and cut around each piece (might be even worth buying a second hand one that fits well).

    I'm wearing:
1960's pink and gold lace mini dress (eBay £2.50)
    Grey opaques (jumble sale)
Grey patent knee high boots (River Island sale 2 years ago)
    Gold coloured tin bangles (India)
Gold tone rings (Via a blogging pal)
Huge gold hoop earrings (Scope 50p)
