6 hats Vix?? I sense a hat challenge coming on...

Wish the car boot sales ran a bit longer round here :(

That sounds like a plan! Not sure if they fit my massive head yet, my hair's up in a bun so not hat friendly but I did get Jon to try them as his head's a similar size and it looks promising.

Car boot sales are still very much in full flow at the mo and will finish towards the end of next month. :j

Glad, while you're here may I ask will all the "Support" / Chat" threads on the Fashion Health and Beauty Board (thinking of all the slimming/pregnancy-type threads and similar) be getting a similar, closure/get on track reminder today as the Menopause and Fashion threads?

Indeed - nothing money saving about the Dukan Diet thread!

I get so jealous when I read about all your fabulous car boot buys - unfortunately working at the weekends means I can't really go to many :(. Oh well I will just need to stick to sale shopping.

DB - I loved that cat jumper in the previous thread, very cute.

My outfit today is quite boring.

Black oversized black jumper - New Look via eBay
Black pinstripe trousers - Next via eBay
Black flats - New Look (Half price sales many moons ago)

I'm going to have a massive clear out of clothes/make up etc later I think!
    Make £10 a day challenge (August) - £175/£310

I am seriously gutted about the lack of car boots around here.

Winter coat has been purchased and put away for Christmas,
I saw one I loved perhaps even more in Wallis, but it wasn't so classic or practical so I've stuck with the M&S one.
Had a gander in the River Island sale, and H&M but it was all scrag ends.
  • Hello guys :)

Goan, Just been reading your blog and i'm from sutton coldfield. I'm here right now actually :p
Didn't realise the charity shops had such good bargains!

Apparently there's a vintage clothes fayre on in the town hall today but i just got home and i'm a bit too lazy to go back out. I guess thats moneysaving though :D

Wow, I am really surprised that the moneysavingness of this thread has been questioned, although I've been AWOL for a while it always seems very grounded with much emphasis on creatively dressing up existing items in different ways, buying second hand and swapping amongst some of us or finding a bargain in the sale.

    Today I am wearing:

Primark floral blue and red tunic £5
Oversize chunky red bf cardi Matalan £7
    Jeggings Sainsburys £3.75
    Slouchy grey boots Tesco £12.

I bought some fab wedge shoes for the dinner - they're black satin with a nude strap and cute black/nude lace bow at the front. I lusted after some killer stilletos but after trying unsucessfully to walk in a few pairs I settled on the sensible option! £8ish in Debenhams (70% off) Found a cute clutch bag with ruffly front in a matching mude satin in New Look sale reduced to £3 so I'm really pleased that I now shall go to the ball!

Planning on sticking to a safe pale pink nail colour and hair down and wavy. I tried some prom style up dos and attempted to use my bumpit (Vix - I'm sure you rate these?) but it was too stressful and I know the pressure would be too much on the day. I have pretty thick hair but I failed miserably at getting the plastic all covered, any tips?

Not sure what to do about a coverup type thing. I don't really want to buy one and the ones I have seen all look more decorative than warm. I'm considering filling my handbag with those stick on heat pads just in case it's freezing.

You're joking, Mum has a huge list of them sellotaped to the fridge,I'll do you a photocopy, you even have them on weekdays.

    Hi Vicki!
The Bump-its are the thing I rave about. I had the plastic bit showing at first but a bit of backcombing and standing in a very well-lit place both help and I'm a dab hand now.

Marzi - I'd wondered if you were local as I seen you mention Brum before. I was toying with the vintage fair idea but as it was a lovely day I'd rather find my vintage for peanuts ate a car boot sale rather than pay through the nose.

Daisy - I love the expression "scrag-ends", round here we use it to describe rough looking woman.

I was going to go there today but for exactly the same reason as you Vix, decided to give it a miss.

We also opted out of the car boot too. Bailey (the dog) decided he wanted to be sick at 5am this morning so we gave it a miss.
