Carers allowance is given to you to live on because you can only work part time when caring for someone. If you choose to spend it on taxis to go to your son's home that is your own affair but there isn't anything else you can claim to compensate for the expense.

I am surprised that you are spending £30 per week on gas electricity per week. That's very high, particularly as the house is empty all day.

thanks but it is not empty all day and i am already aware it is very high and it is £35 a week not £30. i think it is scandalous too but apparently it is correct. also i dont work anymore as my disability has become too bad for me to continue working - i get income support and carers and i was also receiving them both when i was working too.

So who is at home all day if your daughter is at school and your son doesn't live with you? Even though your your meter may be correct, you really need to use your heating less as money is so short.

How did you manage to get IS when you were working and getting CA as well?

Isn't DLA about care & mobility needs rather than being based on an actual diagnosis?

Yes. Basically they couldn't care less whether you have a diagnosis or not.
