You will still be getting your carers allowance of £53. The carers allowance is supposed to be for you to live on not your son. I didn't think 16 years olds went to uni they normally have to do a levels first.0

Your carers allowance award is taken fully into account.0

Hi tjayne, the breakdown you got is correct. The carers allowance you receive is payment for you caring for your son, and is not intended to be spent on him. He will be in receipt of his own benefits, that is why on the income support letter it is classed as your benefit.
The total then is £83-91, because you have a deduction for a loan.
As your son doesn't live with you, is there a reason why you have to spend your carers allowance on him? I'm only asking because, as it it meant for you and you are spending it on him, you are around £40 worse off.
Also, £30 per week for gas & electric is very high, and you also get £48-54 CTC, could you not buy food with that?0 -

He should be using his mobility money to help you with transport costs. Why can't you use the bus, would be cheaper or move in with him?0

Are you on a pre-payment card for your gas & electric? It still seems very high, I'm on warm assist with e-on and I pay £91 per month, but never get a bill, and I can use as much as I need and the payments stay the same, that's for gas & electric, and it's calculated on how many bedrooms and people you have in the property.
To be fair tjayne, 2 years is a long way off at the moment, and anything could happen in that time, you may even get your DLA reinstated. I can understand you getting a taxi to visit your son, as you are disabled, but does your son not pay his own transport costs and phone calls out of his disability money?
I don't really think you should be worrying about 2 years ahead, try and concentrate on the here and now, and have a closer look at your benefit situation, when and if the situation arises.0 -
Why are you claiming CA rather than ESA?*SIGH*0
