Washing machine, is it returnable????

  • I got a new washing machine (a bosch) and I found it left detergent in all my clothes. When I talked to the guy at the shop, he said that most new machines now are much more efficient, and use less water, so just use less detergent. I use about a third of the detergent I used to use, and it's fine now.

I'll bet you're also spending about... *calculating... carry the 1...* a third of what you used to spend on detergent too - and getting clothes just as clean as before. ;)

I don't think I've ever seen a detergent that gave proper quantities. Even from before the days of eco machines I've found that if you use anything like the quantities they suggest you'll find white crumbs of detergent all over your clobber when it comes out.

I hated the last washing machine I bought..HATED it.

You can keep your Eco warrioring, give me a machine which fills up with water and sploshes the clothes about.

The one I had took an eternity but you could still smell deodorant on the shirts when they came out!
Put anything like a towel in and the towel will absorb all the water, the rest of the wash won't even get wet, let alone clean.

Give me an old fashioned machine any day.

i did a lot of reseach before i bought my new washer. in the end we bought a miele, v expensive but i got a free 10 year guarantee with it and it has an extra water button for things like towels that soak up loads, i think it will work out cheaper in the long run than buying a cheap washer every couple of years. dont like beko - had one of their dishwashers at work and i was total rubbish

Also, don't overload the machine, as it will stop the water being distributed throughout. As a rule (according to someone from Ariel), if you can put your hand's width between the top of the clothes and the drum, then it's good

You have installed it and used it. Unless it is faulty then you cant send it back.

If i let my washing machine, it too would do a standard 2 hr cycle

Going by the spec it does have, like someone has pointed out, a good range of programmes including quick wash.

I find using different programmes and changing the spin, pre-wash etc options (which this machines seems to have) you should be able to reduce the time.

I bought an AEG and it has a "reduce time" button which will see a 40 deg. wash down to 1hr 20mins so the machines do exist.

However, heavy soiling will require more time to clean and so as consumers we cant have it both ways i.e. quick washes and cleaning heavy soiled clothes.

I think you're going to be £50 down come Monday!
  • The washes were not overloaded, and I do not use a lot of detergent due to my OH & DD2 having eczema and DD1 has psoriasis.
There is no reduce time/timesaver feature on this machine.

Hi, try selecting the extra rinse setting, it might help with the powder residue. i see this machine is only 5kg max load. (thats quite small for a family machine) as mentioned prev make sure there is a handspan of space at the top of the drum.
what temp are you washing at? my machine recommends liquid detergent on certain cycles, especially the low temp/ woollen or fast wash.
