  • So, you find out that the paint comes from a white Ford (for instance). What then? Unless you have actual evidence of the crash then there's very little you can do - apart from spend more time and money.

I know it's really annoying but I feel you've just got to hand it over to the insurance company and let it go. It's why we have insurance after all.

Given your other history with damage to your vehicles, I think I'd be looking to move house too.

To be honest OP you really do not have a clue who caused this damage. Yes it is very annoying and I have been there, but the fact still remains that a claim on the insurance will be needed, sorry :o
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
  • I don't understand why everybody doesn't have protected no claims bonus. I've had it for years now and had a few claims. They do increase the base premium slightly but it's so small as not to matter. Your no claims bonus can still be transferred to a new company at renewal and you wont have all the hassle that is being talked about here.
Like someone has already said 'Thats what you pay insurance for'

Regards Protected No Claims (PNC) I don't protect mine as it would be quite a bit more each year BUT the reason isn't just that why I don't, it's because the insurance company I'm with will let me keep my no claims as I have 15 years no claims, they promise to allow me to keep a minimum of 9 years whatever amount of claims I make, for as long as I am with them!

So your saying the reason you dont have protected no claims bonus is because you have protected no claims bonus.

Got to agree here I'm afraid. You could have get an exact paint match and even trace the exact vehicle and driver but it would still prove nothing - the 3rd party driver could even counterclaim that you damaged their vehicle. The only way you'll get the damage paid for by the other party is it to have an actual witness to the accident.

No, I don't have no claims.

BUT, the insurance company I am with will only ever take 6 years off my no claims discount if I did make a claim, but it's not protected.

I have 15 years no claims, and will go back to 9 years if I make a claim.

Other insurance companies I have been with will no only take 6 years off my no claims, therefore you lose it, with who I am with now I won't and will go back to 9 years which is normally the maximum no claims discount anyway!

In the past I have found HDN Ltd to be rather bad for trying to palm off a parcel onto someone else if you don't answer the door within 5 seconds. I guess that big hurry would translate into some bad driving too.

Sadly you need to spend quite a bit on CCTV to get decent pictures in the dark and have them recorded at worthwhile quality.
