I note that some folks on here say they are saving points for next year's holidays.

But I also seem to recall other posters, on other Clubcard-relateed threads, saying the deals were far from being good value, because you were exchanging points for a product priced at its maximum, and you could get a better deal by negotiating with the supplier yourself (or taking up one of their offers: apparently, ClubCard Deals cannot "buy" anything that's at a special offer rate.)

I'd appreciate any advice, then, from anyone here re the subject of using the x4 ratio to buy a holiday next year -- obviously, it's better value than when the ratio goes down to x3, but is that still a sensible way of spending these points I've amassed?

    Thanks, gang.
im saving mine for vegas holiday and will book the second we get our next lot of vouchers through before december. Holiday cost is £1806 for 2 one week in vegas in Mid August with Virgin. We will have £800 (inx4 rewards) so costing us £1000, if you add the vouchers if i used them to shop £1200. So £600 each for a week in begas peak week well worth it to me

I think Tescos logic is flawed, saying we are better off with double points and 3 x rewards: you don't get double points on everything - for example not on petrol - and also, there are nowhere near as many extra points till spits or vouchers as there used to be. (Wine club, baby club, food club etc etc). I don't get anywhere near as many points at the end of a quarter as I used to - about half in fact. So definitely WORSE off.

Obviously, in any change there are going to be winners and losers. As far as Tesco's analysis is concerned there will be a vast majority of winners, compared with what it was before double points came along.
I think till spits are more recent, with the demise of the food & health club Tesco will be spreading the 'offers' to more people; and you'll get less offers with the Baby club as the baby gets older.
I suspect that most people just buy what they want, and have noticed the extra points and vouchers as a result.

Oh, sods it. Rather than using my ClubCard points on an RAC breakdown Deal -- which seems to have got progressively more expensive every year in terms of points/Deal conversion -- I've just bought a £28 AA subscription via Top Cashback with a return of £21 -- so the sub is actually just seven quid.

I have several £100s of x4 value sitting here at the moment and apart from recently buying the 'Family Tree' software package (hey, it's great value if you're interested in that kind of thing: mine arrived a couple of weeks back and it's the new 2011 version) I've no clue what to do.

I note that some folks on here say they are saving points for next year's holidays.

The thing is that you always pay the brochure price of holidays, even though the holiday online constantly change prices and quite often you can save quite a lot of money when booking last minute or in time of any promotions.

BUT people who have to go in school holidays have to plan well in advance and those prices don't go down much

and also as you get the points for nothing it is still holiday for nothing.

I personally change into Airmiles, the yellow ones and restaurants - I love eating out and as pointed out before all those buy 1 get 1 free or 2 courses for tenner offers are not valid on Saturday or Sunday and I don't live in town so I have to go at the weekend.

Airmiles can be good value, especially if you are flexible as some of the weekly offers are great-but quite often for given departure dates or/and given airports.

Many thanks to adam and any: much appreciated. We've been looking into the British Airways BA Miles thing but have given up because of its complexity, so will now check out the Air Miles scheme. We'll also look into both Cosmos and Virgin holidays for 2011.

Again, thanks for the heads-up. :rotfl:

Weuse our clubcard vouchers for the Pleasure Beach at Blackpool which are currently £8 worth of vouchers for 1 wristband. I assume then that this means it will now increase to £9 or £10 per wristband, which even with double points for 4 of us is an extra £200 shopping at least.

  • If the quality / quantity of deals increases because of this, then for me personally it would / could be a good thing.

It is alright if deals are worth 4 x vouchers if there are things that you want to buy but we find it very difficult to find any deals that we want to use.

Anyone know what we get with Clubcard Plus these days? Confused with all the double points etc just what extra we get! Anyone able to do a list of what points you get paying with...

    a) Cash/debit/non Tesco credit card
    b) Tesco credit card
    c) Clubcard Plus

Just read a moneywise article about this and came here to read the forums.

We tend to use them for food and entertainment deals since we don't amass that many points/vouchers. This is a nice heads up (are Tesco going to tell us direct or would we have had to go to their website to find out?)

You can see on their website how much more it will cost from 6th Dec so get booking now!
