Boyfriend Been Reported

I am in tears at the moment and i am not sure what to do! It seems my boyfriend has been reported for benefit fraud when we're not doing anything wrong!
He has no job and is getting benfits for his rent etc.
Some malicious person has said i am living with him when i am a student and live 50 miles away. I only get to see him at weekend and now I am worried about going to see him because I don't want him to get into any more trouble.
I usually go on a Friday and stay over Friday, Saturday and sunday night. I leave Modnay morning as I have lectures so I have to be back at university by 12 o clock.
I struggle as it is to go see him due to being short on money as my student loan only just covers my rent, bills and food. What am I supposed to do? it's not viable for me to just get the train to him and seeh im during the day as the train fare is too expensive for that.
If someone has any advice please help!

It's easy to proove i dont live with him but they just keep being funny. Someones now told him I'm only allowed to stay over 1 night. I've never been told this? i got told the 3 night "rule" which I then got told was myth.
I've stayed longer than the 3 nights but only once when he had an epileptic fit and in good concience I couldn't leave him0 -
someone on the board will confirm the official lines0

It's no issue to proove im not living there - Just wanted to clarify this: My bank statements go to my home address 50 miles away. Most of my post comes here to my university address which is also 50 miles away. I have a full time degree on the go right now so obviously can't be commuting! I live with my housemate, have financial commitments, am on the bills here and have a joint bank accoutn for the house i live in as a student0

Please try not to worry. It is upsetting, but it is easily dealt with. No-one is going to say that you can't visit yr bf, or stay overnight. You just need to prove you live somewhere else.
A couple of years ago when I was very ill, my brother came to look after me. Next thing we know someone has reported me for having a man living with me, and has provided his name and car registration number as proof (anonymously, of course). The only thing that I claim is single person discount on my council tax, but sure enough I got a letter from the council. But all I had to do was give them his address - he pays tax there, and is receiving LHA at that address, and he's also on the electoral roll. I got a letter back by return confirming that they had closed the file.
But even though I KNEW I'd done nothing wrong, I found it upsetting and stressful to think that someone would go to the bother of reporting me.
I hope you get this sorted quickly, but try not to worry about it.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
There is no 'set rule'
The DWP goes into a lot of other things, bank statements,
joint bills, lots of other things. So stop worrying and stop listening to stupid friends who have no idea what they are talking about.
Like the other poster says, its easy to prove you dont live there if you have any bills etc and the fact you are at uni. will do that for you so stop worrying, he will be fine as long as he is honest.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
That's the issue im worryign about - I dont pay council tax or anything here as I am a student. I'm on the electoral role here I believe. My car is registered to my dad with me as a second driver.
I was supposed to be going through Friday to see him for the weekend and now im worried about going
It's ruined my weekend as I haven't seen him for 2 weeks and wanted the weekend with him 0 -
And is there anything i can do? is it worth me calling/writing to them with photocopies of bank statemetns and unviersity bills or something? I just want this to stop.
Could there be some other rule he is breaching? Overheard that his tenancy agreement may not allow him to have visiters for more 2 nights or something?0 -
Hi
There are no official number of days or nights that it is OK so spend with your BF. The question is a) are your living together as a couple and b) if so would he still get benefits given your income.
Staying EVERY weekend is maybe not a good idea. Maybe a better idea if he joins you some weekends. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
