Indeed a lot of OSs will I hope learnt not to assume everyone is the same as them.

I just feel that board guides who are in a position of authority & responsibility shouldn't get involved in those type of posts when posting as board guides (with the official badge in their Sig).

Its bad enough that quite a few people did it, but it lends a weight of authority to it when the board guides do it.

Perhaps Penny should apologise for her mocking posts?

ETA please remove Pennys comments from under my quote:eek:

I said otherwise a couple of times.

Okays...well i think the wink smilie was "outaplace" at PPs original post in this thread and maybe there wouldnt have been other critical posts thereafter if it hadnt given the impression of "permission" to make them.

My own personal take on being a Board Guide is that I would never ever express a personal opinion and generally be at huge pains to be absolutely totally "neutral mode" at all times - as I do think a lot of people "take their lead" from a Board Guide. i would regard it personally as akin to the various "leading roles" I have played in a variety of voluntary roles over the years (where I had to frequently "keep my mouth shut" as what I would have otherwise said/done would not have been in "neutral mode" - but that was the price I paid for having a "leading role"). Hence one of the two reasons I'd never wish to be a B.G. (as I would find it as hard as the vast vast majority of people to stay "in neutral mode" all the time). The other reason, of course, is my very low level of computer skills...

    So - yep..valid point made I feel.

Now that it has been duly made - I think its time personally for all parties concerned to drop any personal comments and get back to the topic of the thread.

Poor O.P. must wonder a bit about all the non-relevant comments from a variety of people on her thread - not being aware presumably of the "undercurrents" on O.S.
  • im more frugal:rotfl: im a hairderesser (not woking as one any more)..i cut my boys and daughters hair..my niece, also a hairdersser, cuts and colours mine..i buy the 99p dye from home bargains and she foils it with cheap foil....i couldnt afford to go to the hairdressers..but i agree if you have time colleges are the best for a cheap cut and colour..our local one is doing free gents and free ladies shampoo and blow dry at the moment.:)
  • :rotfl: If that's the case welshcamper then I too am more frugal, although I am not a hairdresser, I cut Oh and the boys' hair myself, barely bother to get mine trimmed and dye it myself (when I CBA'd) :o:D

Its a shame Penny doesn't see fit to retract & aplogise for her posts. Even people in authority can get it wrong & I think it commands more respect when they can admit it.

I didn't take a genius to realise that the OP probably had afro hair as its an expensive form of hairdressing & wigs & hairpieces are frequently used.

I think the posts that came after were distasteful.
I didn't realise people had to clarify their race & colour, we do live in a multi cultural society.
Thankfully the OP came back & does not appear to be offended, I am embarrassed for the old style board.

I'm dismayed in the extreme that you in your position of authority as a board-guide saw fit to make your comments above:(

Well clearly I must be thick as two short planks because it wasn't obvious to me. All my friends with afro hair don't wear wigs so why would I assume that the OP was of black origin?

I am curious why Penny is the only one who is being chased with pitchforks for an apology - how about all the other members who thought OP was a troll???

As for BG's being in a position of authority......with respect to all the BG's who do a great job but there is no way in hell I see you as authority :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Any post that Penny makes is her own opinion and as such she's entitled to post that on the forum as far as I am concerned.

Perhaps if people post they use wigs in future on OS people might stop & think that they might have afro hair or a medical reason because calling them a troll & tittering at them. Penny is certainly not a victim in this & asking for her to apologise to the OP for her repeated foot-in-mouth posts is not a personal attack, actually to apologise when you have a (a few) blunder(s) is the decent thing to do.
