Hello!
I pop into your diary now and again - i have a cheap Tesco hoover, I've had it for at least 4 years and it's fine (ignore the fact I probably don't hoover as much as some!).
Also...you mentioning Duxford caught my eye as I'm from that way originally and the amount of school trips I've been on there...well, I can't tell you! Not that interesting for a 9 year old girl but glad you enjoyed it. And even better that it was free :T.
Take care

You'll fit in well here then - neither do I!!

Thanks for popping by - always nice to have visitors! We live in Essex so not far from Duxford, yet we'd never been! I can understand your point that it wouldn't be all that gripping for a 9 year old girl though! :rotfl:
Thanks for the input on the great hoover dilemma too - we're still debating the matter, watch this space for further hoover news updates!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

you managed loads off your list...well done.
sounds like you had a lovely day on remembrance sunday.0 -
Thanks Taxi - it was a really nice day and we're both agreed we'll go back at some stage.
OK - todays list then:
Last Avon delivery to be done - lady asked me to call today so will try her later.
Empty dishwasher - it didn't go on overnight as the reset hadn't been done.
Empty dishwasher which is now running!
Declutter one more area
Write list of stationery type bits I need to buy - both for Avon and for Matrix.
Give some serious though to DFW photo challenge pic for this week. I think I know what I want to do, once the light improves I'll set it up and have a go.
Take picture for DFW photo challenge!
Drop some stuff into charity shop.
Write meal plan for next week - have slipped on this totally this week.
Washing up
Washing off airer Done!
Washing from machine to go on airer.
Go to building society to pay Avon money & a cheque in. (Going to do this tomorrow now as OH needs to go into town anyway)
Write shopping list
Tesco shop! :-(
Make flour tortillas to go with dinner this evening.
Make chilli con carne for dinner tonight.
Have switched the heating on this morning as the place felt quite chilly and damp so better to get some heat into it I think. We won't feel the effects until tomorrow though as it's storage heaters. I might set the little oil filled rad up in a while though with the electricity meter on it to get an idea of running costs on that and start warming the place a little at the same time.
Spotted on a TV ad that Sainsburys have a special offer on those Knorr "stockpot" stock concentrates, we've used those since we got vouchers for money off them at the Good Food Show last year and found them excellent so I will stock up while the offer is on I think. For chicken & fish I usually have some HM stock in the freezer but the knorr things are useful for veg & beef, and the occasional quick chicken-based meal where I have forgotten to get stock out to defrost.
Hopoe everyone has a happy Children In Need day - I'm just listening to Radio 2's Music Marathon now!Apparently just the R2 breakfast show have already raised over £1m! :T:T

I really wasn't with it yesterday - not only did I forget the reset on the dishwasher but I also, having loaded the WM, put the powder in, and teased OH about the importance of making sure the door was shut properly (He set it up one day last weekend only to find in the morning it hadn't run as the door wasn't quite shut!) I forgot to actually set it and press the power switch! Oops!
I'm not prepared to run another appliance on peak rate though so that lot will go through tonight now. Someone remind me later on today to set it up please!

HI EH I've lurked for a while but thought I'd pop in and say the Mr T Hoover at £36 (i think) a little one 1400w bagless is brilliant but you do need to take apart the filter bit regularly and bang out any dust in it. I got mine with vouchers when it was reduced about 6 weeks ago.
Secondly, we have storage heaters that are really old and cost a fortune to run, we got the new Delonghi Rapido 3kw and it is much cheaper to run, can get heat when you need, set a timer etc. Wish we had done it years ago. When we decorate the big old heater will be coming off the wall and going to the tip as would not even put on Freecycle - not going to put that kind of costs on someone elses electric!0 -
Hi Pippajo! Thanks for the info on the Hoover - it's the next one up from that size I'm looking at - the 1800w one, so I really think I might go for it now. As for the storage heaters, we have a mix of ages - the one in the front room is the newest as it was only fitted two winters back and that's excellent. On the flip side, the one in our bedroom is so old it's not worth turning on any more as it drinks power for practically no heat emitted! Having the little oil filled rad on in the front rom this morning made a hell of a difference though, and the cost wasn't that bad all things considered. A quick work out tells me that it was running at around 15p a hour.
List update time:

Take picture for DFW photo challenge! Done!! Cmplete change of plans on what I was considering doing though!
Drop some stuff into charity shop. Done!! Did come out with 5 books though, however, a Dan Brown, a Robin Cook and 3 Martina Cole's for £2 can't be bad.

Book car service for next week Done!!
Book car MOT for next week - my lovely little Clio is 3 years old on the 29th! Done!! Negotiated a reduced price MoT from the main dealers who are doing the service - it has to be serviced by them this time as it is still JUST within warranty (by about 200 miles!) and I want to be certain that if they find anything wrong that would be a warranty replacement it still gets done OK
Tidy out the interior of the car. Done!! Simply amazing how much rubbish you end up carrying about!
Getting quite foggy and nasty looking outside again now - I'll keep an eye on the fog and warn OH about it if it starts getting too much thicker I think. Got to go out there again in a bit to brave Tesco's. Ugh on both counts.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

hi, i feel right at home here, i've got naff storage heaters which we removed in the last 12 months, turned out that the electrics were brittle which explains a £300 bill for no actual heat. We also have just been a bought a delonghi convection heater for the bedroom. It's fab and i've got it on a timer so it takes the ice out of the room at bed time and when we get up. biggest problem we have is keeping the living room warm, keep asking OH to get the calor gas heater out but he says it's not cold enough yet.... but it's bloomin freezing!
i keep intending to go to Duxford, it's not far from us and i keep driving past it for work meetings and always think... oh i'd like to go there. Maybe next year i can put it on the agenda.0 -
Thanks Chev! I remembered! :j
I love airshows now and remember seeing the Red Arrows for the first time when I was about ten I guess - loved 'em! (Still do!)
LT I might try out a convector heater on a timer in the bedroom to see how that goes before we commit to the expense of getting that storage heater changed, although in fairness it was the next one on the list to get done and should have been done last winter really if we'd stuck with our schedule. The one I'm looking at getting fitted is a Dimplex "XLS" model one, which apparently has some automatic functions which are supposed to make them cheaper to run. If we do go down that route I'll report back!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
