Strange bidding situation

If everyone using eBay is honest, how come there are so many people coming here with problems, asking for help and advice? :think:You are all barking mad. Bid early, bid late, bid in the middle. If you are outbid it's a con.
Everybody is using sniping tools now. Convinced they work. Logical nonsense.
Or is this just paranoia and are all these questions and problems imaginary too?

There is a great deal of paranoia on here, I also would not welcome half a million people posting every week saying 'transaction went well'. Therefore by default threads on here get started when there is a problem. If you consider how many hundreds of thousands of things are sold every day on ebay uk alone and how few new threads we get on here I think it does rather put it into perspective.
Apprt from niggles (buyer returns for me this week grrr) most of us rarely if ever have a real problem on ebay.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. All this bidding lark! If you really want something, then usually you can get it some where on the eBay with a Buy It Now, for a very reasonable amount, usually much less than what you would pay in the shops.
OK Bidding is OK, but if you really want it, but want it for 99p, then unless its an item that is really obscure, bidding is a waste of time. There are so many people using 'snippers' now that unless your going to play the snipping game, then it's rare to win. I have even seen people get 'Auction Frenzy' and pay more for an item, which has a duplicate item for a Buy It Now price, less than the bidding price. Suckers.
It is also a fact that some eBayers have additional ID's. This enables them to 'bunk' up the price. It is wrong and against the rules of eBay, but sometimes proving it is hard. eBay at your peril I say.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
Ive been after a twin pram, and found one i liked. I found some on ebay in excellent condition so thought id save myself some money. after lookng at the prams avaliable i noticed that they never recieved any bids and if they did they never sold because they didnt reach the reserve. I found the pram closer to home and placed a bid of £100 and asked the lady to send further pictures to me. I recieved a reply stating that the item was for sale privatley and she had been offere £230. i responded stated i couldnt afford that much. After a few days she emailed me again stating that she told the private bidder that she would need to bid for the item on ebay. After this i re-bid and was the highest bidder for a few hours. I lost the auction to another bidder at the last minute.which was bad luck but i accepted my defeat. The item was then automatically relisted.
To me it seems that the seller had someone bidding against me to ensure she got the price she wanted. I have found her private listing on another site and emailed her for her best price, with little success in ways of a responce. Ive also re-bid on the relisted item to see if this happens again. So far im the highest bidder...... but not keeping my hopes up!!0 -
Why would you even communicate with someone like that! Unbelievable. You will get scammed one way or other if you persist in dealing with people like that.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

Thanks Soolin, I did think about posting the item but I won't now. I do think there is something fishy going on. I will leave it until the last minute and see if I can get it for an extra £1. Or I might leave it if it doesn't go up and see if they offer second chance. I know there is nothing strange about being outbid, but I don't know how they knew how much I had bid to such an exact amount.
Hummmm
Just post a screen grab of the bidding with any personal or identification numbers blacked out (do it in Photoshop if you have it).0 -
I went for old school and put in for just over £46. Almost straight away I was outbid by a pound but not straight away suggesting someone had put in a higher amount, I was the high bidder for about half an hour.
Not strange if like you they decided like you to place a larger bid and put in say £50, then the price would go up just above your maximum bid.Why would you bid days before the end of an auction is beyond me. You guys need to learn the art of bidding to win. Bid late (last 15 seconds or so or use a sniper) and bid high, don't fanny around. The only time to bid early might be to get rid of BIN bu you only bid the minimum and keep your real bid for later.
Have to agree, I never bid until the last few seconds unless I know I will not be there at the end of the sale.
I think bidding early just leads to elevated prices, know your maximum you are willing to pay then sit and wait until the end allowing enough time for the bid to go through.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -

Reading this I think you should stop using ebay now. You seem to be happy to be scammed. Withdraw your bid and walk away.0 -
The "art" of bidding. Do they do an A level?0
