MSE News: Banks put PPI claims on hold in defiance of regulator

Claims companies provide a service and although there are claims companies that charge upfront fees there are others like ourselves that don't. So Marshellaka how can they be out to get money if there is no money to be made? Back end fee (NO WIN NO FEE) means the claims companies get NO money if the claim isn't satisfied in the customers favour.
Claims companies must be soooooo terrible. I mean what are we doing by using our years of experience in Consumer Litigation. Claiming back money for clients on a NO WIN NO Fee basis. We must all be out to rip the clients off.
What a joker. Do you research
No win No fee Companies are mostly just as bad in fact they can get more money back than the up front fees. Some of them do not take out ATE insurance but tell clients that they have done. They lead people on for years sometimes and nothing happens. We have seen it on here, been involved and read the book.
What about disbursements the client gets charged for those., What happens if the Bank decides to counter claim in my experience that is not covered. What if you lose the case and it is decided that you were not a good witness or were not prepared to have words put in your mouth when giving statements then the ATE will not pay out.:mad:0 -
claims comps serve a purpose, they do bring awareness of ppi, they brought it to my attention.... no consumer website paid however many million to advertise on tv, the claims people did.
but then... i usued consumer sites to get it done myself, i had the time and inclination.
others dont, so claims comps serve them a purpose.
my work collegue got 14 grand payout from barc, the claims comp took 15% + vat so he got 12 grand without even knowing it was due to him
ask him what he thinks of claims comps
anyway, each to their own, some need to stop being so bloody pompous!
That appears to be a minority just look on this site about the people that have been let down by claims companies.
Yes they can help people who cannot will not do it themselves but you do not hear about these just the people who have been duped by these companies. There are many:mad:0 -

No you are quite right I have just not heard of ANY good companies. Any restaurants do not make you pay up front and you have the option of not paying if the meal goes belly up. You also have the option to try the goods before paying. You do however have come back if you get food poisoning. The only thing you can do with claims companies is go to MOJ and they have in some cases been as much help as a chocolate fireguard.:mad:0 -

yes i quite agree, but we must be careful not to tarnish all with the same brush.
that is the overriding line here by me anyway.
clearly any claims comp that does take upfront fees need outing, but then the ones who do not and try to do a good job also need outing.
balanced!
(i am today anyway... a chip on each shoulder)

That is because this website is a consumer action site....not a CMC appreciation thread!
I am sure there are many happy Lloyds customers out there, you just won't find them on this site!0 -
If you ever get the opportunity to look at the sort of complaints that most claims companies send in, I recommend you take it. You will be gobsmacked at how similar the complaints letters they send in are (most are virtual rips of what you can download on the internet). The same template used again and again and again for every person that is foolish enough to use them. The list of reasons usually irrelevant or not applicable and very often downright lies are told.
The industry let these vultures in and its only FSA rules that prevent financial services companies taking them to court and the customers they represent. In any other industry, their actions would be considered fraud.
This is not to excuse the banks for their actions. Just in response to the claims companies comments.I am sure there are many happy Lloyds customers out there, you just won't find them on this site!
Yes you will. I am one. What you probably mean is that you wont find may in the reclaims section. Other parts of the board you will find many happy customers of Lloyds. Although it was better when it was just Lloyds and not when TSB culture came in to it.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
