ok i think i will go for the second option im confident of fitting that, i have put new hard drives in my pc and game cards and dvd rewriter so im ok with that.
apart from that what is the install proceedure, what will i need to imput in terms of things from my D-Link router etc.
Since you write that your son is already using it.....
Just make sure that you are using the right level of security. i.e. not WEP, but WPA/WPA2 TKIP/AES. The best being WPA2 AES. The caveat in setting up the router's wireless connection with that level of security is that unless the other wireless items can match that level of security, they won't connect.
So find a security level at which all your wireless items can connect.0 -

to be honest im not sure i understand any of that. ill get the hardware and put it in and hopefully follow instructions and the thing will work. if i need to insert any of the above i will try it trial and error. All the big powers they've silenced me. It's easier than it sounds.
In general your Broadband provider will set a password for Wireless access. The reason for this is so that your neighbours and/or passersby cannot just start using your Internet package for free. The might be able to pick up the signal, but unless they know the password they can't connect.
WEP/WPA etc are are just increasing bigger padlocks for your password.0 -

yes i understand that, this password will have been sent to me so i know this password, is that correct. I have a username and password that my provider sent so im thinking this is what you are talking about, there is no secret password on my router that im going to have to try to find??All the big powers they've silenced me. If you are telling us that your son is already using it, none of this is an issue.0

Then you can connect the PC using the same WEP encryption as the PS3.
But WEP is not secure and can be easily cracked in seconds, you need to change it to one of the WPA-level encryptions to be secure.
And it's never a good idea to use the default encryption anyway. No free lunch, and no free laptop

how do you do this, im hoping once ive installed the piece of hard drive and installed software WEP etc then it all becomes a simple striaghtt forward task. All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0
