I worked for four hours in a frozen food factory when I was at uni. My job was to stand around a metal 'shaking' coveyor belt with other noobies and pick out the bad, frozen chips as they vibrated past us. We had no gloves, my hands were blue by lunchtime. To give us a break, the management sent me over to the packing section, packing the boxed chips into cardboard boxes. After a minute or so, one of the middle aged ladies who'd been there ages, and who had had to swap with me on the frozen chip line, came over and said it was her turn packing again!!!! I had no choice but to go back to the frozen chips after only a minute of respite. Needless to say I didn't go back for shift 2.

The there was Greggs when I was still at school. There was a girl there that hated me for some reason (chav). My final straw after two weeks was when my boss said I wasn't sweeping the floor properly and 'Lisa' was going to show me how it was done. She grabbed the brush out of my hand and actually proceeded to give me a lesson on how to sweep the floor - which was no different to how I was doing it just with the attitude.
I'll have some cheese please, bob.

3 months as a christmas temp in Game, worked my butt off and when it came to the end of the contract they had a part time job available, they gave it to the other christmas temp who was clueless about games and admitted she was only there for the paycheque! Mind you, that was better than my second day when i was "spoken to" on the shop floor for not jumping on a till by the manageress, despite the fact i hadn't been till trained - almost walked there and then.

  • Some of these stories are quite amusing. I think temping work gives you a certain kind of option for freedom,if you don't like it call the agency and they can send you elsewhere, therefore your reputation is intact!
