Just over 24 hours; flew to Alicante for a three-month stint with Chipperfield's Circus. Too many reasons to list - three universal words saved me :
    "Taxi" "Hotel "Airport"

(Before MC was charged with animal cruelty - and the circus was all-people except for the team of horses.)

I've always wanted to be able to say that. That and "follow that cab!" :D

  • Lasted a couple of hours in a call centre. Did the training, made my first few calls asking people who were already making donations to a charity if they could up their donation. About 20 minutes in the computer generated the next call for me to phone a pensioner who was already donating £25 a month. Supervisor told me "You don't get to decide which calls you make and which you don't". I laughed in her face - "yes I do" I said while walking out.

My only job has been working three days for Vauxhall (the cars) in the office with my mum typing numbers into a spreadsheet, apparently I'd done it all so quick that they had nothing to do for me the next day. It was only temporary for the summer hols anyway :)

2 nights at a newly opened restaurant, I was 17 and had been waitressing for about 18 months elsewhere - on my first night I was told to keep my gob shut and smile because it was up to the male staff to take orders, I simply had to take carry drinks, on the second I was told that I should have been taking orders and not leaving it to the waiters and I clearly had a bad attitude as I didn't even try to offer customers drinks.

  • I took a job that the Job centre had been very imaginative with its description. I arrived and it was cold calling for kitchens. The guy gave me a chart to read from and made some noises about bonuses etc. He then tore a sheet from a telephone and book and sat me down to start. I called a friend and he said it was a scam, so I walked out. As I passed his desk I said 'you can have those 14 minutes for free'.

Not surprising, thing that amused me most about working there was that the boxes of burgers said

'100% pure beef hamburgers' a nightmare for anyone who is allergic to pork/beef, and that everything had to be called the american name, fries, chiller.... stupid americans
