  • So, where should be get our fireworks then? The UKFR is very fond of Epic, but it's trade or wholesale rather than for the smaller user.

Who sells fireworks at family prices that are good value?
  • Can anyone recommend a chain shop that does good fireworks? Supermarket, garden centre, toy shop etc. We don't have a specialist locally.

I know I'm adding to the off topic posts but just need to say please don't assume organised events are safe. I've been to shows where I've seen things go wrong, plus you don't know who is around the shows. I was very nearly hit by a rogue firework some indiot lit that was aimed to travel across the floor instead of up into the air. Yes these things aren't regular occurances but at least at home you are in control of what's going on.

Organised shows are good in their own right, but "Bonfire night" they are not, they fail to capture the essence, the anticipation, the excitement, hell, even the smell of the real thing :p

Rainmong, whereabouts are you based? There's a garden centre near me (Midlands) that were knocking out Kimbolton stuff half price & less last year, top stuff too, Jelly Beans, Glittering Gemstones, Mammoth Cones (spectactular) between £3 - £6 a pop. I'll take a drive up see the score, if the deal's the same as last year first I'll fill my boots then spill the beans :D

Epic are not just trade and wholesale, they sell to the public all year round. I would recomend them, although if they are not close enough to you then you could try a google search for "fireworks" and use google maps to find stockists nearby.

Nothing to do with being a killjoy !

Organised events are far superior, far safer, far more enjoyable, cause less disruption, less disturbance, save hundreds from getting injured, save the taxpayer a fortune from the cost of incidents started by irresponsible people and save a lot of unneccessary stress to animals !

Urm, you need to get your facts straight! More people are injured and more seriously at organised displays than at home! Infact, the HSE stopped publishing the official figures for accidents at home due to fireworks several years ago as the figures were so low.

Just look up Wicksteed Park Incident.

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/this-britain/eleven-injured-as-firework-shoots-into-crowd-at-display-514218.html

The photos of the injury to the little boy are horrific, something you wouldn't see at home.

Now, that's not to say that Organised displays are not great, fun and safe, BUT to say that they are safer than having fireworks at home is just ludacris.

Hey, why not say you can't have christmas lights anymore, have you seen how many DEATHS from putting them up there are in the UK every year let alone injuries!

Their brochure says Trade only, and thats what they told me when I called the London branch. I've sent you a message mate.

oh dear, I'll leave Anthony alone.....

    on the original post...

I have been to China, I have visited fireworks factories and I have seen supermarket fireworks being produced. Believe me when I say they are built to a price and I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.

Get yourself to a year round supplier who rely on repeat customers and stock GOOD quality fireworks that they have tested themselves to ensure the quality can be relied upon.

    Stu

Well mate I went to a "good" all year round supplier, and bought the worst stuff I've ever seen. The brand was called "Daning Red Devil" and it was very bad.
