From 15th October , The following fireworks will be available as BOGOF from sainsburys stores

My dad is an absolute moaner and he still goes on to this day about the fireworks we had last year from Sainsburys. In his words 'they're a load of bl**dy c**p and an absolute con'.

Now, I can't imagine you can go far wrong with some sparklers.. but the fireworks really were awful. We only got them because a voucher in the paper for free rockets lured us in.

I have had enough of supermarket/cornershop/newsagent/gardencentre fireworks;they are absolute rubbish! Many of these fireworks have poor effects that crack fart and pop with a few measly sparks,thin quiet lifeless bursts and crappy rocket bursts with just a handful of poor thin stars. All year firework outlets offer much better choice and variety of fireworks than the places I mention and are worth a look.

Are fireworks worse now, than what they used to be?

Or is it that when you are little they just appear to bigger and better?

Or have the fireworks actually changed due to all the health and safety regulations?

I dont think you can beat an organised firework display to be honest - cheaper and safer....

Typical killjoy response! They are not as fun as a private event and costlier;no sparklers/muddy fields/crowded viewing points/killjoy stewards/fuel cost/entry fees/overpricedfood/expensive fairground rides etc.

Thank you for your comment, I was giving my personal opinion, and you dont have to pay for food nor fairground at organised events. Ive always took my 2 for the "fireworks", but thanks for your input.....

In 2008 the UN classified fireworks with a flashpowder burst as 1.3g classification, and fireworks with a blackpowder burst as 1.4g classification, and it lead to a tightening up of licensing and storage regulations on the higher powered 1.3g stuff. You can still get 1.3g fireworks but only from specialist all round fireworks retailers who have the necessary storage etc requirements for the more powerful 1.3g fireworks. The 1.4g fireworks are not quite as powerful or as noisy and retailers that don't fit the requirements for storage and sale of 1.3g fireworks usually have the tamer less powerful and quieter 1.4g blackpowder fireworks for sale to the public.

Its not a killjoy response at all.
We always go to our local massive FREE council run fireowrks event.
As long as you wrap up warm and have your wellies on its great fun, and gives a much better fireworks display than we could ever provide, its a fab night out, theres a fair and you can take your own sparklers, and theres nothing stopping you taking your own food either.
Plus we know its safe, we not gonna have a firework go BANG in our faces.

I would rather spend £50 on food and fairground rides for the kids with an amazing fireworks display, than some fireworks at home that fail to amaze for the same amount of money.

40,000 other people must all agree with me as thats how many turn up every year.

Many events nowadays BAN sparklers and don't allow them!
