They managed to take the direct debits for them both ok every month though! They said I've got to find the account number because they can't but i've not kept paperwork from 4 years ago! So looks like Npower will be enjoying my refund for their christmas party
They changed all their billing systems and moved to a new one ending in 2007. So your bills would be on the previous systems. Thats doesn't mean they can't see them though. They may have a view of say X bills up to the point them moved the systems.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -

Several posts on here where customers are saying npower have no record of their account and don't know how to go about showing they were customers.
All any averagely competent organisation would need is the name of the account holder and the address of the property that received the supply.
Shame the npower rep hasn't been back to display the 'award winning customer service' they like to boast about and tell customers how to go about obtaining the information customers need to show they were customers.
What have npower been doing with all the money they received for gas which they claim they never supplied?
Shame the npower rep hasn't been back to answer the simple question I asked her in my earlier post.0 -
I found an unexpected deposit in my account of £65.60 from NPower yesterday, so all you NPower customers check your accounts!
I haven't had any communication from NPower at all!0 -

Hi, the 2007 npower refund is arriving as a letter you take to the Post Office for a cash payment so sounds a little strange to me, but anything is possible in npowerland0 -
I switched from npower in 2008 but did a bit digging and found some old statements then give them a ring, they confirmed straight away i was entitled to a 34.64 refund. Then got home and they had sent me a letter stating i needed to get in touch to confirm i was still at this address , so i would advise everyone not with them anymore to get in touch with npower.0

we have moved. it seems we have to pay to npower some money:/0

It's high time Npower apologised for effectively stealing our money.
They might be paying some of it back now but there will be people who miss out through this glitch.
Npower should work out what they have gained and pay it into a good charity.0 -
Received my letter from npower today - not sure why they decided to make it so that everyone getting this refund has to visit the post office with two forms of I.D. to get their money back. Wouldn't it have been better and cheaper for them to refund via the Direct Debit that most customers would have already in place to pay the gas bill ?
Then npower would have only needed to send out a much smaller number of letters which include the credit bar code to those not paying via D/D
I guess npower may be thinking that lots of people will miss the 6 month deadline and not visit the post office in time, so save themselves a bit of cash
Interesting how npower say they will agree with HMRC that customers do not need to declare the tiny amount of interest that npower have automatically included in the refund - because npower will pay this tax directly to HMRC on our behalf. Has anyone seen this confirmed by HMRC ?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
