Sorry I just edited your post there instead of quoting!

Firefox is an internet browser similar to Internet Explorer, you can use both. There are a few sites that don't support Firefox but it is generally felt to be better than IE and I now seldom use IE. If you are on dial up I found that Firefox was very much quicker at loading pages than IE which is not so noticable on broadband. HTH

I am on dial up 24/7 surftime. I do not understand that bit that I can use both. I thought I would have to use one or the other. Suppose, I do not want to download firefox, does that mean when accessing my 18866 account online, other people can see it as well as the site is not secure. Thinking about it now, I am sure, I have in put my credit card details on the non secure site as I cannot remember seeing a padlock on the site. You know, when you are a newbie, everything seems complicated if you do not know what you are doing. Thanks a lot for your help.
  • Out of interest, is there any reason why you wouldn't want to upgrade IE5 to IE6?

I've always made sure my IE6 and W98SE has latest updates and don't recall it ever causing any problems.

On another note, I eventually managed to register with call1899 (after several attempts over a few weeks) and fortunately could see the yellow padlock at the time.

My only concern now is that I'm trying to help a friend register, I can't see the yellow padlock especially since its where you have to give payment details etc. So have told friend to keep trying until the yellow padlock appears before entering any vunrable data.

Anyone else had problem with security/missing padlock?
