big brands for less ood short dated food

Just had a look on the bigbrandsfor less siter, got side tracked by another forum post.
Seem to have some good deals. As there haven't been any recent posts on this forum, just wondered if any one had ordered lately, what they had and if they are any good.
I keep looking at these online shopping sites, but don't seem to be able to justify the delivery cost, against the amount of items I should be buying (plenty of junk stuff, but don't need that!).
Thanks.MSE Addiction, should come with a health warning:money:0 -
The Sharwoods Thai red curry paste is lovely. I can also highly recommend the ketchup.0

Recommend the pizza base mix.0

Bitten the bullet and placed a large (heavy order), splitting with a friend.
Bread mixes, pizza base mixes seem to good to miss.
Made a boo boo though. 'Spend over £20.00 on goods, get up to £60.00 worth of goods free'. Didn't understand how to order this, so clicked on the basket with the offer details in.
Haven't yet received an order payment confirmation or e-mail from BB4L, so how will I know if I have got it right. Has anybody else qualified.MSE Addiction, should come with a health warning:money:0 -

to tell you the truth if I was you I would double check your savings first before confirming your order certainly dont order on the idea that you will get a real £60 worth of free goods with this offer by spending £20 plus post .
They have a lot of LLyod Grossman rissotto to shift that they crazily list at nearly £30 for 20 which is so silly , its 200grams worth of grossly out of date rice !!!!!! and they only sell it for £1.00 for 20.
My "free stuff" wasnt free at all as I got charged full delivery price and the weight added took me into next delivery cost which they did not cover , the weight was highly exaggerated anyway and the free stuff that arrived was extremely silly with how they valued it
It doesnt take much working out what they send in these "free packages" you get a mix of that sort of stuff and actually because it pushes your weight up the arguments with them about their delivery pricing mistakes fall on deaf ears or cost a long conversation and time , you end up paying more for the free stuff.
Be careful as they have started stocking a lot of items that are actually out of date branded stuff yet you only save a few pence compared to buying at local cheap supermarkets , in fact somethings are far more expensive for instance their pies are 50% more expensive than poundland and they send thge wrong ones , strange that they always seem to send a cheaper version they stock when they mess up.
Just be careful I did post here about my experience with them I think and sadly gave them yet another chance and got stung worse , Id advise doing your maths sometimes one mistake or burst bag etc can ruin your savings against buying local due to the postage charge and their idea of a saving of 12p etc on out of date retail branded items per tin when NOBODY sells the in date stuff for full retail price is crafty.
Sometimes its best to shop local etc on bogof , you get it cheaper undented and in date is a bonus plus you dont have to argue about delivery charge for "free stuff" or shortages , they have a habit of messing up and only way to sort it is on next order really which is another crafty way of getting you to fill the cupboard with stuff you end up giving away0 -

I didn't intentionally spend more than £20.00 so wasn't expecting to get 'freebies'.
I phoned them, explained the 'boo boo' and they refunded me the money.
I then rejigged the order, still spent the same amount but it came out slightly cheaper, I still qualified for the freebies.
I realise that I am not going to get anything exciting in the freebies, but as I wanted the £20.00's worth of goods anyway, they will be a bonus (or not).
I do not have easy access to cheaper shops, limited by mobility, so have to shop locally. Except maybe once a month, when I can get a bit further afield.
Quite looking forward to the delivery, more to see if I get 'a complete, split free order', rather than what the extra's are.
I will update this post on receipt of the parcel. Whenever that will be, I assume I will get a delivery notification!!

First class, absolutely no problems.
Received an e-mail from BB4L yesterday afternoon, to say that item had been sent to Courier. Would be delivered within 2 -4 days.:T
THE DELIVERY
10.00am today a large lorry turned up, the doorbell rang and the Courier driver told me he had 9 boxes for me. NINE BOXES!!!!!! As I have limited mobility and they were very heavy, he suggested that he bought them through into my kitchen and put them on my worktop, so they would be easier for me to unpack. Which he did. There was a tear in one box, so he asked me to check that the items inside were ok, which they were, I signed for the delivery and he left.:T
THE PARCELS
As this was a shared order with a friend, I decided to wait until she arrived before we opened up the parcels. So well packed, all the glass jars and bottles were double wrapped in newspaper and packed between softer items.
So much stuff, such big quantities and such a lot. Certainly excellent value for money.
The order including delivery was £37.18p (99.8 kgs), so quite a hefty delivery charge but still excellent value.
Including the free items, we had 13 x 3.5 kg bags of bread mix, 4 x 3.5 kg bags of ginger sponge mix, 3 x 3.5 kg bags of pizza mix and a 12.5 kg bag of low fat sponger mix, 9 jars of an upmarket supermarket Blackcurrant Jam. Pickled Onions, 8 x Stuffing mixes, 2 x bottles of fruit squash, 6 x 1kg bags of gold flour & about another 15 free items.
For a first order I was very pleased. I know the free items were random and I would have ordered regardless of the free stuff, but everything in the order is useable.
Will certainly order again.:A
So if, like me, you have been dithering for months about ordering, take the plunge. I am glad I did.MSE Addiction, should come with a health warning:money:0 -
May I ask what type of things did they send as your free items? I was thinking of placing another order but was concerned they'd send things I wouldn't use and would cost me extra for nothing.

Pack of concrete lol the rissoto is in a vaccum sealed pack and could actually do some damage if you threw it at someone of it dropped on you foot! Hard to cook too.0
