How do you make your baked bean pasties?

    220g/7oz short crust pastry
1 eggs beaten/ or milk (to seal pastry)

    1/2 oz/15g marg
    1 onion
    2 rashers of bacon
    1 carrot
    220g/7oz baked beans
125g/4oz white chedder (to be honest i use anny cheese) grated
    black pepper.

preheat oven to 180c 350f or gas mark 4

To make filling melt marg in a frying pan add onion bacon and carrot and cook. stirring for 5 mins or until onion is soft, stir in baked beans and set a side to cool.

roll pastry out to about 1/4 ins thick and using a saucer as a guide cut out 6 rounds pile filling into the center of each pastry round and top with cheese add black pepper to taste.

brush edges of pastry with egg/milk and fold rounds in half upward to enclose filling. Press edges together well to seal then flute between finger and thumb (or do what it do and use a fork to seal) place on greased baking tray and brush with egg. bake for 25 mins or untill golden, serve hot, warm or cold.

Spinach and gremolata pasta sounds lovely -:j could you post the recipe if you have the time?

Pasta recipe serves 4 hungry people
    400g pasta spirals
    200g tub of crème fraiche
    zest of one lemon
    one big fat garlic clove
one slice of bread made into crumbs
250g spinach, either baby leaves or shredded
salt and black pepper to taste if you think you need it

Spread the breadcrumbs on a baking tray and grill on medium 'til crunchy - about 2 mins
Mix in a bowl the crumbs with the lemon zest and the clove of garlic, very finely chopped
meanwhile cook the pasta spirals and prepare the spinach
When pasta is cooked drain it, put the spinach in the hot pan, so it wilts, return the pasta to the pan, add the crème fraiche and stir, add 2/3 fof the crumb/lemon/garlic mix
    stir well
place in bowls or on plates with the remainder of the crumbs etc. on top

We had ours with HM garlic (sort of) bread. More of a schiachette (greasy Italian bread :) yum)

tastes v nice but I am aware that I stink of garlic.

    110g chorizo (chopped into chunks)
    3 leeks or 2 onions
2 red chillies (deseeded and finely chopped)
    4 cloves chopped garlic
    2tsp soft brown sugar
tins of borlotti, cannellini beans or chickpeas (or whatever you have in!) = 3 in total
    two tins tomatoes
    400ml chicken stock
3tbsp chopped fresh herbs (rosemary, sage, parsley, thyme)
a good pinch of saffron (if you have it)

preheat oven to 180C gas mark 4
Cook the chorizo chunks (no oil needed!) then add the leeks or onions and cook til they soften, stir in chilli, garlic and sugar. Drain beans (if tinned) and add to the casserole dish with the tomatoes and stock and a pinch of saffron.
Bring to the boil and season lightly, then put in oven for 30 -35 mins. Stir in the herbs near the end of cooking.

This is from Waitrose supermarket free magazine last year. It is easily doubled to make loads for the freezer.

Thanks so much overlykeensaver, that's exactly the sort of thing we love to eat and I love the flavour chorizo gives to that sort of dish. Will definitely save the recipe and do soon :)
