  • i know my sig isnt debt related but i never hide it, its part of me and forever will be :D if other boards dont like it tough, maybe they should read my sig again :rotfl:
  • I've been on other boards, just to look round, but i never hide my signature.

to me its like this thing that shows we've faced up to our debts and its something we should be proud off that we're doing something about it!

If some people feel the need to make comments or whatever i would just ignore them... petty people... petty minds!! & besides what do they know about your situation.;)

Yes, im embarrased about my debt, but we've done the hardest thing, admitting it and opening up to it!!:T

Plus i LOVE this forum so i take it with me everywhere :D

I feel comfortable showing my sig on DFW as we're all in the same boat but on occasion when I have ventured away from here I've seen people on other boards (loans, credit cards, etc) being got at because of their debt. So I've taken to not showing my signature when I post on other MSE boards. Some of the other boards can be nasty.

I think I'd feel ok in Old Style or in Marriages, Families and Relationships but I even hide my sig in The Arms.

What do others do? Am I just being paranoid?

Can you hide your sig on certain posts then?

Molanole, if anyone gives you any grief or abuse because of your debt please send me a PM. I soon have the f***ers apologising! :)

And don't forget to use the abuse button! ;)

I don't show my sig when I go on the credit card board, mostly because it's so long and I feel it's irrelevant there.

I dont think anyone should hide their sig, I love reading them to see what people have acheived. Its a great credit to you, don't let anyone tell you different.

You have been strong to face up to it all and get yourselves out of it, dont let anyone belittle that.

I've never hidden my signature - mainly because I didn't know that I could!

On the whole I am proud of it - its me, in all my warts and glory. However having been on the receiving end of unpleasant posts - sometimes I wish I had. Now I know I can - I may do so on the odd couple of posts!!

Anyway - I love the DFW... No-one else comes close!

Aw! SS a proper knight in shining armour! To be honest, even I think I'm a bit silly hiding my sig in the arms as most people over there are really really friendly and funny too. But there are one or two people in there who just like to cause trouble. I think the worst places are the credit cards, loans and budgeting and current accounts boards though. So many people on their high horse and feel that they know more than anyone else. If anything, yes we're here because we struggle with budgeting but by the time we are all debt free we will be unbeatable when it comes to balancing the books! :T

I think I'm going to start showing my sig, warts and all. No ones perfect after all!! :D

PS. And yes, there's a little tick box which you can uncheck if you don't want to show your sig, most of the time it's underneath where you compose your post.

One example I can think of is when I was on the house buying board a few months ago asking for some advice on buying some land (we have a small piece by our house we are in the process of buying now) and some one made a comment saying 'how can you think of spending more money with all that debt' which they had only got from my sig as I had not said anything about it in the post, how irresponsible we were etc, etc'

Dislike the comments made about blaming people (ie. DFWs to a degree) who reclaim bank charges being the reason for interest hikes on cc's.

Yep, this was the kind of thing I've seen. I got to the point of thinking well you'll never make these people understand (some of whom will have thousands on credit cards but because they've not faced up to it think that they are morally superior) and so I just wanted to avoid confrontation I guess.

    Not any more! ;)

I figure that my sig is who I am - at least I've faced up to my debt; and want rid...rather than getting in further *runs and hides from CC board* ;) Ok, that's not the best way to put it, but I think that the DFW are the best people on here...I'm amazed at the sigs on here, the amount of hard work and dedication you lot have!

Ok...it makes no sense, but I know what I mean :o
