Do you all show your signatures when you're other MSE boards?

I feel comfortable showing my sig on DFW as we're all in the same boat but on occasion when I have ventured away from here I've seen people on other boards (loans, credit cards, etc) being got at because of their debt. So I've taken to not showing my signature when I post on other MSE boards. Some of the other boards can be nasty.

I think I'd feel ok in Old Style or in Marriages, Families and Relationships but I even hide my sig in The Arms.

What do others do? Am I just being paranoid?

I look on the other boards, occasionally, and have posted. There are several posters, particularly on the Loans Board, who would, in my opinion, be better off posting here - and I advise them to do so.
I am proud of my signature and would not hide it on any of the other boards.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

When I venture out I don't usually show my sig, I feel it's personal and DFW is my safe family :grouphug: and you're right, Molanole, some of the other boards can be quite rude and unfriendly, I've had quite nasty comments when I have showed my sig so I just don't now.

I wouldn't dream of commenting on anyone's debt sig. I'm nerd 77 but quite badly behaved at the moment ;)

No one's been nasty about my sig but I have seen others come in for abuse when they've strayed away from DFW and been open about their debts. It normally goes hand in hand with the argument about reclaiming bank charges and the DFWannabe gets a real slanging for mismanaging their money. On some boards people don't realise that there are many many reasons that people might have found themselves in a sticky situation.

I've added a poll to this thread as well in case people would like to respond but don't want to post a message.

One example I can think of is when I was on the house buying board a few months ago asking for some advice on buying some land (we have a small piece by our house we are in the process of buying now) and some one made a comment saying 'how can you think of spending more money with all that debt' which they had only got from my sig as I had not said anything about it in the post, how irresponsible we were etc, etc'

  • There are other boards

Sometimes I look on old style and freebies but that’s about it, I don't hide my sig because it's mine and I’m not ashamed, I'm proud to be a part of the DFW family :o

I don't hide my sig, probably cos I haven't got anything too personal in it! I'd like to think I wouldn't even if I did (if you can follow that! :rotfl:) because it would feel like giving in and letting them win.

There's certainly nothing to be ashamed of in front of fellow dfws - the same should apply to in front of anyone and everyone i reckon. If there was less judgement and more understanding (albeit from a minority) then perhaps people wouldn't feel so ashamed about their debts and be willing to seek help earlier, before they get to a crisis. This board is a great way for people to discuss things anonymously but what a pity that many can't discuss it with their friends/family because they fear their reaction. They fear the same reaction given by some users on other boards.
