Just been browsing around and found this site http://www.carrsbreadmaker.info/recipes/
sorry if you already know of itMortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
Well I found and printed off the instruction book.
I nipped into Lidl yesterday and got some of their bread mix. Looks like it has the yeast etc all ready in it.
Got home and put the ingredients in (just the bread mix and water) and have got it on now. It's done its first sort of stir (don't know the correct terms yet) it did it on a sort of a pulse motion if that's correct?
then it went into a continous stir or knead? I guess it's proving now as it's gone quiet. Daren't lift the lid in case it collapses!
can't wait for it to finish - might be a while though ((drums fingers))
Hee hee. My first loaf was only a couple of weeks ago. I still look through the window desperate for it to finish!
How'd it go? :TIn the middle of difficulty lies oppurtunity0 -

I haven't tried any of the recipes from Carrs, though Swan gave me the link a week or so ago. Still trying out recipes in book till I get used to things. It looks like a really good siteIn the middle of difficulty lies oppurtunity0 -

although I'm a bit wary of reducing salt these days after the giant egg bread fiasco0 -

I fancy the gingerbread-dont have half the ingredients in though:(
Will get round to it.
I am going away for the weekend this week and just thought, I will miss using my BM. Really I need to get out more:rotfl:
Glad you are pleased with your efforts. It just tastes soooo much nicer than shop bought!:)In the middle of difficulty lies oppurtunity0 -
yes the bread mix is all-in-one, I think you usually get 2 loaves from a pack
if you want white bread flour, Lidl's is excellent, it's better than any of the expensive branded flours you'll see in the supermarkets
I never use any other kind of white unless I'm treating myself to some of the specialist flours from Flourbin
I got a shock there  they've had a major upgrade done to their site
the machine should knead gently at first, then once the ingredients are incorporated it kneads faster
that's the exciting bit ....... then you have the waiting for the best bit
Thanks for the tip on Lidl flour, thats worth knowing.
Have you ever used the french white bread on flourbin? Hear it's tricky to get results with, but excellent when you do. That would be a treat though. It's very expensive!:eek:In the middle of difficulty lies oppurtunity0 -

I do have a little bag of the French flour, but I'm going to handbake it, I think it'd be asking for trouble to put it in the BM, even the Kenwood!
I've used some of their flours successfully in the BM though, the 8 grain mix is lovely & the Maltflake's nice too
they also do yeast in a 500g pack, I put a clip on it, then into its own Lock&Lock in the freezer, then decant some into a small Lock&Lock that I keep in the fridge to use as needed
it's lasted really well & so far I've had no failures with it0 -
I treat myself to an order from them now & again

Not so good at the hand baking, but might give it another go. Would love the french flour, it is supposed to be devine. And, as my new thing is brioche!!!
The yeast is a good idea. I might just go and investigate. A good quality yeast must enhance the texture/taste.
In fact I am going to the website now!:)In the middle of difficulty lies oppurtunity0
