ooh I know that feeling.. of having moved yourself in, in your head, before you've even got it.

we've heard on the grapevine (aka neighbours in the know) of a house that will be coming on the market soon .. so we're hoping to sneak in there before its goes on the market (letter through the door)

In my mind I'm already planning where all the furniture will go :-)

do you know the reasons for the vendors not wanting to move? They may change their mind if they know they have an offer ? If not, and I know your timescales are short, don't worry, there will be another place out there for you!

    Agreed a purchase today.

New build so quite straight forward

Now all I need to somewhere to rent for 8/9 weeks

yay ! well done. Hope you managed to knock a bit off the asking price? Have you thought of a holiday let for the couple of months that you'll be needing to stay somewhere?

AFM: we've heard that everything is ready for completion this Friday. I've got plumbers, electricians and architect all lined up every day next week. I work flexi hours, so I'm hoping that the boss isn't going to pile a load of work on me at the last minute so I can leave just after 4PM each day next week!

Well after a further conversation today we established that the vendors hang up on the EA when he tries to call their mobile so I'm not even sure if they know we're TRYING to make an offer. I presumed he'd mentioned this fact yesterday when he found out they were staying put, but it doesn't sound like he even got to speak with them. He says there has been a lot of interest in the house over the 6 months it's been on the market but no previous offers. He *thinks* it's personal reasons they're now not moving.

I did consider putting a note through their door tonight (I only live down the road at the mo) just saying that I hope they don't mind us doing this, but if they were to change their minds about moving, we were interested in making an offer & please give us a call? What do you think? I don't want to annoy them but we felt we got on well when they showed us round.

Only a small amount off the asking price

However, the beloved did think holiday lets and it looks like that may work, certainly it is cheaper than a serviced apartment

I probably would, but in all honesty would not hold out much hope. I'm one that prefers to try and exhaust possibilities & wouldn't be able to sleep if I didn't feel that I had given it my best shot to get that house. Just be aware though that if you purchase it via the "note through the door" approach the vendors may still be liable to pay the EAs their fees

One of my colleagues has recently done exactly that. They exchanged on their sale before their purchase, and so were out of phase and needed somewhere for them and their cat ! She said it worked out quote well in the end - the most stressful thing she found was trying to gauge how long she'd need the house for (in case of a booking by another party)

Ready to exchange, process has been pretty fast, around 2 months. Vendor keeps pushing for exchange and completion by inventing dates in their head and getting annoyed when we've passed them lol?

Can't wait till this is over, Vendor is making the process way more stressful than it needs to be by putting loads of pressure on everyone.

Thanks superbabe. The trouble is hubby lives a way away at the mo so doesn't get up to me until midday-ish on the Saturday & then heads back mid-afternoon on the Sunday (though I think this will have to change as of next week!). We don't have weekday evenings either as he's still working in Scotland (we're looking in the south midlands) :(

Wow, that's a lot of travelling and not a lot of hubby-wifey time! :-(
In that case, I'd be more decisive with the estate agents. Explain that your time's very restricted and you are only available to view houses on Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning. If they want to sell a house to you, they won't mind!

Or could you take a friend with you to the first viewing, and make a short list of places for hubby to view at the weekend? When we started looking I did a lot of viewings on my own and/or with one of my teenagers for a second opinion, rather than take the whole family round every property.

    Good luck!

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMGOMGOGMOMGOGMGMGOGOG!!!! :rotfl:

I never thought I'd say this but God Bless EA's!!!! :D

Just had a call - the EA for my dream house has just called to say he's finally gotten through to the (ex?) vendors AND THEY'RE CONSIDERING OUR OFFER!!!!!! Bless him for being so darn annoyingly persistent!!!

Now I'm very worried that £9k below asking (pretty much our max) isn't enough even though the vendor commented she thought the house was overpriced. Please keep everything crossed for us otherwise one very stressed, hormonal, pregnant, lonely woman will cry and cry :rotfl:
