given your pressing need to identify somewhere to buy pretty sharpish, I'd be tempted to suggest viewing slots as you said above.
I don't want to alarm you, but October isn't that far away in the conveyancing sense - have you sold yet/ are FTBs? Hope you manage to get somewhere where the chain allows you to be in plenty of time!"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510 -
Thanks Grimbal - I'm trying not to panic!
We have sold & completed on ours, have a 31% deposit ready & waiting & the mortgage approved & ready to go - we were pushed into completing in 3 weeks by our buyers so we're hoping the house we find will contain someone equally as eager to go! We're seeing 3 tomorrow as one EA hasn't got back to us yet & 1 on Sunday.
Thanks, will try that when we find more to view!

When I arranged viewings I'd give one estate agent a time span of 2/3 hours - say anytime between 10am-1pm, then I'd call another estate agent with times of 2pm-5pm, and then another anytime after 6pm. They'd come back and confirm something within the time frame I had (most of the time) or suggest an alternative.
Good luck!0 -
Thanks superbabe. The trouble is hubby lives a way away at the mo so doesn't get up to me until midday-ish on the Saturday & then heads back mid-afternoon on the Sunday (though I think this will have to change as of next week!). We don't have weekday evenings either as he's still working in Scotland (we're looking in the south midlands)

AFM: we exchanged last week and will be completing a week today. We transferred over the funds today, so we're all ready to go !
It's been a long long journey to get here (I don't want to jinx us though):
took over a year to sell
couldn't find a place to buy
decided to rent rather than lose our buyer
found a place we loved, only to lose out to another couple
couple's chain fell through a month later - house offered to us
vendor dies - probate has to be applied for
probate granted, and we exchange
2 long years it'll be by the time we get the keys! I am never moving again "Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510 -

does that mean you're renting/staying with someone then? If so, that's a great start - you've chopped off the end of the chain at the very least! Given your circumstances, you could always request that your offer be subject to the vendors renting themselves? Worth asking I suppose"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510 -

Good luck, I hope you're very happy there

luckily (?) the owner passed away in a residential home rather than in this particular property. I'd always be on the lookout for little-old-lady-ghosts otherwise!"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510 -
Yes, we're staying with respective parents - another reason to want to be in somewhere quickly

everything crossed then that you find somewhere that is either in a small chain or chain free. It can be done - you just might have to be on the lookout for little-old-lady ghosts after you move in"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510
