STILL waiting and in ongoing floods of tears of frustration over it all at the moment.
We've been sat ready to exchange for days now - vendor's proving (as ever) slippery to pin down. Savings all gone in the deposit, so basically we've paid out everything we had and currently... have nothing. Can't get through to our solicitors as they've got voicemail on, estate agent can't get hold of the vendor to get him to give his consent to exchange, the Irish economic stuff's always on the news and I'm worried sick cos our mortgage is through Bank of Ireland via Post Office - and if we don't get things pinned down in a matter of days we're going to be unable to give notice for our rented house for December's rent to end in January and have to pay two more months on that.
Oh and if we don't get this sorted and finished within about the next week we'll not have the help of the in-laws with moving/DIY which will mean I have to do it all myself and we'll have to live in a wreck for 7 months while they're out of the country.
I'm literally sat here in floods of tears waiting on some news, any news and wishing to god we'd never ever started trying to buy a flipping house to be honest.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
After a horribly stressful few weeks with our vendor making every step difficult, it looks like we're finally going to exchange on Friday with a completion date of the 17th Dec (not our choice at all but vendor wanted 4 weeks between exchange and completion).
Good luck to all those still waiting - it is the worst thing I've ever done (I think I said that last time too!!) but I'm never moving again!“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

 Frustrating isn't it. If I were you I'd give up on the crying and go straight into full on temper tantrum mode - scream, stamp your feet, throw something at the wall (unbreakable and that won't do any damage to the wall) and vent it all out of your system.
Then when that's left you worn out, take a deep breath and work out your priorities...
how seriously are you regretting the decision to buy? enough to pull out? If so, spend some time thinking about the options if you did. If not, move on to the next priority...
how tight are the finances going to be if you miss the notice deadline on your rental? If its gonna be too tight money-wise, its your turn to play hard to get. Let the vendor know (if anyone can get hold of him) that its exchange now / complete as planned or exchange when he's ready but completion is delayed until your next rent period.
how much help do you need from the in-laws? if you're gonna now need a man&van to help with moving can you try pushing that onto the vendor with threats that you'll pull out. Are you ready for him to call your bluff.
etc etc
Scream the frustration out of your system then put the emotional bit to one side and go through your what-ifs with a clear head...0 -
Can't afford to let this place go now, with the fees we've paid etc - the savings we had for those purposes are all but gone. Everything's in place - just needs the vendor to say "yes" and it'll go - but I'm getting nowhere with it all. Just rang our solicitors and the estate agent again - estate agent's going to try to prod the vendor into action - and I'm at my wits end utterly with it all.
There ARE no what ifs. We can't carry on renting with owning a pet (it's getting increasingly hard to find places that will take us) and I'm sick of the insecurity and hoping you don't get a bad landlord who refuses to do repairs. We aren't in a financial position to withdraw and find somewhere else anymore, and if we continue to get pratted around our timescale to move is running out. We'd budgetted to cover the rental overlap for one month - two will hurt us quite severely if we can't get notice given soon... and they KNOW this, they've known all along about our deadlines and required timescales. We NEED the in-laws here to help us move and we're losing that as well.
I'm at my wits end with it all - I've rang everyone again today, no joy... can't even get any answers or dates when this all CAN go ahead right now. This going crud-shaped like this is just the perfect end to the worst year of my entire life.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Doesn't it help just knowing that other people are feeling the same way? Not that I would wish this on anyone else but it helps keep things in perspective. I wish all going through this all the luck in the world - why does the process have to be so stressful? I know it is a huge purchase but surely there must be a simpler way of doing this?
What gets me is how, in everyday life, we all use the quickest ways to communicate, text, email etc. but no, solicitors, surveyors etc. don't seem to want to do that, not when they can charge you to send a letter/report through the post. As for local authority searches, surely, again, this should be simplified in these days of computers.
Now I am getting myself wound up again, just when I had unwound a bit by making a huge stew and dumplings for tonight's dinner. Keeping myself busy, getting myself fatter. At least I haven't taken to the drink. LOL.
Anyway, I took some control today and made a few phone calls (thinking, why should I but if I don't, they won't). Verbally we have been told now that nothing major has shown up in the survey, thankfully, so we don't have to negotiate on the price, which is a blessing as I hate conflict.
There is a slight issue with an alteration to the garage though which hasn't had permission but I am prepared to revert to it just being a garage if push comes to shove, I just hope it is that simple.
Let's hope we all get what we are wishing for.0 -
On a slightly brighter note, we're exchanging tomorrow morning for completion on the 10th December.0

Well we are closing in on exchange. The deposit is in from the buyer, mine is working its way through the system in time for Thursday. We have agreed a completion date of the 9th of December. The outstanding enquiries from our sale have been hopefully resolved through a deed of rectification which was completed by the freeholder today and faxed to our solicitor. Our vendor is desperate to move (she wanted to complete next week!) and has said the remaining enquiry has been answered and is on the way to her solicitor. I am keeping my fingers crossed this happens on Thursday and worst case on Friday. I need to get cracking with packing etc however I don’t want to do it until exchange…. The only thing is my partner hasn’t signed a contract on her sale….although the sol says he can e-mail this for her to sign and scan back immediately. The sol says there are a couple of minor amendments to be made and therefore he can’t send it yet….yet the buyers have signed it??? Maybe their sol just makes the amendments on their behalf. Confused. Anyway it has been a very emotional 2 days and I will be very relieved when this is finally over with.0

Am at work so no fullstops splurge!!
I really feel for everyone waiting/frustrated about buying/moving, as most of us are in the same boat....it gets to a point where it really gets you down. I have good days and bad days and usually prepare myself for disappointment as that's all that seems to happen these days.
Have seen two beautiful houses in a higher price bracket. Have offered on one, which will be a real financial stretch, but I guess if I do it now, I don't have to go through this agony again for several years. If this one doesn't work out, the other house is equally nice in its own ways so we'll try for that one instead.
If I don't have any luck with either, I'll keep on looking....sigh...

I completed last Thurs, and know well the anxieties of waiting around for the vendors solicitors to pull their finger out.
The vendor was a complete pain in the backside and used the EA to bully us every week, despite it being his own solicitors holding everything up by not answering questions put by our solicitors.
Then he refused to pay the indemnities for missing documentation, building regs and breaking the covenant. By that time I was so fed up and was feeling really screwed over, so I stuck my heels in and let him sweat for a few days....yes, I was sweating too, but did he want to sell it or not, bearing in mind we were the only offer he'd had...he caved, and coughed up.
Better still, on the day of completion, after we'd picked up the keys and were driving to our new home, the EA rang, asking if it were convenient, the vendor would like to come around the next day and clear out the white goods he'd left in the home....awwww...
"Hard to bear" was the phrase I used, as well as pointing out that completion meant completion....no going backsies I'm afraid.:rotfl:
Revenge is indeed a dish best served cold...:T0 -
After three calls to the estate agent/solicitor/cat's mother - finally managed to get the vendor on the end of a telephone... sod's law, after his solicitors had gone home for the evening. He's ringing through his "yes" tomorrow so we might be able to exchange+complete then since our mortgage funds were requested last week when we assumed we were exchanging (but when his solicitor vanished for days on end uncontactable AGAIN).
So no idea still - but he did helpfully tell us the bloke next door had the keys - yeah, we know this since we talk to him most mornings!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0
