Just got let down yet again by them - vendor's solicitors are ridiculous.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

Because I'm buying a repossession, we were given 21 days to exchange. Now that the ball is in their court, we'll be lucky to exchange before 21 weeks are up!
I just wish they would make a decision about what they want to do so we can proceed in one way or another. The estate agents are getting really annoyed with them and now from the sounds of it, the asset managers on behalf of the vendors are also getting annoyed by the indecision. I am sure it has something to do with the TCF governance with it being a repossession but we haven't made any progress since August!0 -
I got my mortgage offer today!!
So relieved and happy!!
Everything ready for exchange next Monday.0 -
Well, well, well. 8 weeks after my offer on a 2 bed house was accepted, we finally exchanged at 4pm this afternoon! Contacted the insurance company and told my manager that I will be booking the 6th December off to collect my keys!!
I own no furniture and need to get basic items ASAP plus find a job at the same time as being made redundant! Not the right time to pop open the champagne yet!0 -

What mixed news! Excellent news on exchange but not to great about the job.
Try freecycle for the furniture - you never know, just be quick and ready to collect and remember once your sorted remember to offer some items to 'give back'. Good Luck!0 -

Aw, well done! 8 weeks not bad at all.
We didn't exchange on Friday. promised it would be today, but not!!! GRRRRR. Now seems that the people one down from the top of the chain have discovered an issue they should have let their lender know about but didn't - no idea now when we'll exchange and so it seems unlikely we'll be getting our keys this Friday as planned. Even worse for our vendors who are completely packed and have vans and time off work booked!0 -

Really at the end of my tether now, I tell you. When will it all end?
We sold up in September, moved in with relatives to be cash buyers. Ended up putting an offer in on a property £35k more than our budget (who needs savings anyway:(), just to find something equating to what we moved from. Anyway, offer was accepted 3 weeks ago but it took vendors a week or more after that to find something which they have done. It would appear that there is no upper chain which is a God send. We had our full survey done yesterday and are awaiting results but unless something drastic shows up, we will go ahead as we feel we are paying a fair price, a good bit lower than asking price and we love the house.
Anyway, the worst bit is not being in control, vendors want a quick move but we haven't seen a draft contract yet. I think both are cash sales but not sure what stage their survey is at. At one point we thought we might move in time for Christmas holiday period but that is very doubtful now but as long as we exchange contracts before then I will be happy. Right now my nerves are on edge as I really couldn't face house hunting again nor do I want to outstay welcome with relatives.
We first put ours on the market last January and it has been a very stressful year, mainly due to that process, I am sure I have aged ten years in that time.
I have said this before but this time I mean it, once we get our house, that will be it, I never want to move again.
Sorry for the outburst of feelings.:rotfl:0 -

Completely know where you're coming from! We had an offer accepted on our house at the beginning of October - cash buyer. So, there's us, the house we're buying, and the house that our sellers are buying, and that's it (the people at the top of the chain have emigrated, so the house is empty already.
We haven't even had a sniff of when we're likely to be signing contracts! Our buyer's solicitors went bust three weeks ago, but we were all assured that that wasn't a problem as the file was referred quickly to another local firm.
We're ready to go with our mortgage and so are our vendors.
I've been chasing the EAs and our solicitors on a nearly daily basis, and all have been in agreement that we'll be in before Xmas, but I don't really think there's a chance, TBH.
It's not that we're desperate to be in before Xmas, but I have annual leave over the Xmas and New Year period that isn't flexible. It would've been nice to use that to time to unpack, get sorted etc.
Meh. When does it end? I'll be ringing the EA again this afternoon, as they are chasing our buyer's solicitor, who have apparently turned mute.0 -

So SO true. I'm now at the point where its not even worth losing my rag - I can only shout at the estate agent who can pass on my frustration to the asset management company but it is actually the mortgagee who is holding everything up. I don't even get to talk to the person who can talk to the person who can speed things up
I've started looking for alternatives but there is nothing out there that ticks so many boxes - if I don't have patience then I'll end up paying more for something smaller in a less desirable location further from transport links and with less of the features we were hoping for. I guess grin and bear it is the only way forward.
At least I don't have to give up hope of being in by Christmas yet... no chain and no reason not to exchange and complete on the same day so we've got 4 weeks for a) mortgagee to make a decision and b) my mortgage lender to re-issue paperwork. Not holding my breath but its not reached the realms of impossible yet (well apart from the bit about mortgage companies doing anything when you want them to :rotfl:)0
