Good luck bluefuzzybug, I hope it all works out! Hopefully the vendor will see that you're in a good position and have made a reasonable offer.0

blimey, this thread is slow today !
no news from me really - got an email from EAs of our (potential) vendors to say that they have had their offer declined on their onward purchase - so, they still have yet to find somewhere to go to. Getting a bit frustrated now and considering starting to look for alternatives...
Hi Grimbal
I was in the exact situation as you with the current purchase of my house. I was panicking as I was worried as I didn't know how long it would take for the vendors to find a new house and if my mortgage offer would lapse etc. My advice would be to stay subscribed to the likes of rightmove until you have exchanged. You never know, your dream property could come on the market.
Luckily my vendors found a property within a week but I'm still having a nose around rightmove to see what else crops up.
As everyone keeps saying, it's a buyers market so I'm sure they will find somewhere soon.
Good luck!0 -
I haven't heard anything either, so more waiting. Been researching on the house and think it is worth a bit more, but needs the work so hoping to get some discount for that...will see what happens, and may increase my offer, but defo won't go over stamp duty if push came to shove.
Roll on Monday, and good luck to everyone else!

Just wanted to say best of luck everyone. Am i bizarre in that I now actively look forward to Monday as that means the prospect of house buying developments!? Why on Earth don't solicitors work weekends!?
I feel things sliding to a halt. Getting the mortgage and survey/valuation sorted have given me a focus. Now I feel adrift and dependent on solicitors and others. Doesn't help that the clock is ticking on my mortgage offer either...I was the same last time I bought a house though - just desperate all the time for movement. Took four months last time (and I was a FTB then).0 -

It's been 2 1/2 weeks now since they accepted our offer & they don't seem to be doing anything constructive at all ! Their EA keep deflecting our calls: promising that the case handler will call back & never doing so ! Thing is, the seller was quite difficult to deal with, being somewhat unrealistic about his price, so we're worried that he's also being unrealistic with his onward purchase too. We're definitely still looking around just in case, but are moving forward with the paperwork on this one.
How long would everyone say is "reasonable" for a vendor to find (& agree a price on) their onward purchase ?

We submitted ours on Friday (telephone application last Wed with all docs handed in to branch) and rang today to check it was all received. They have told us it will take up to 48 hours for a decision - thought it was already decided

Exactly, if they want to sell, then they should at least seriously consider your offer. If they want to sell, but only at their asking price, well, they have unfortunately likely got a bit of a wait on their hands.
Good luck with it all & let us know how it goes!
