    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

sorry annie - love you lots but that tickled me. Well done you on the hunky allotment man - let us know how your date goes! chicken stock is easy -- chicken carcass hacked up, plaenty of water and any old veg trimmings you have flitting about and let the lot simmer, and season. :T

OH OH OH have to tell you all!!!! I had the mother of all bargains earlier!!!

15 small cartons of premade baby milk --- was 68p each --- reduced to 17p each. :T saving of £7.65

10 small jars of stage one baby food (chicken and bolognese) --- was meant to be 60p each ---- reduced to 15p each :T saving of £4.50

8 small jars of stage 1 baby food (various) --- meant to be 76p each ---- reduced to 19p each :T saving of £4.56

4 mums own stage 1 baby food --- meant to be 68p each --- reduced to 17p each :T saving of £2.04

1 box of baby porridge with fruit ---- meant to be £2.29 a box  --- reduced to 57p :T saving £1.72

2 bottles pre mixed baby apple juice --- meant to be £1.91 each --- reduced to 48p :T saving £2.86

2 packs of 52 P@MPERS nappies (so effectively 104 nappies) in Size 4+ (should explain Holly was 13lbs 12.5ozs three weeks ago and the weight range for these is 20 - 44lbs so a little big yet) but ---- meant to be £9.59 each ---- reduced to £2.40 each :T saving £14.38 :T:T:T:T:T

In total the whole lot should of cost me £50.29

It should of cost me £12.58
with my 10% discount should of been £11.32

but some of the jars wouldn't scan and boss got so bugged by it he told me to just have them. Think it was a sneaky thank you because I worked all the crappy hours no one likes as overtime! so in fact it only cost me £9.95 in total. so I had a saving of £40.34

    :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

so the nappies are now underneath Holly's cot ready to be used when she needs them.
Have put all the jars/juice etc in a kitchen cupboard I've just cleared for all her stuff.
Am paid tomorrow too and need to go and do a food shop for us but think I will go and have another look in there afterwards to see if anything else has been added. Its end of range sale stuff (all the dates were good until mid 2011 or up to 2013! )

Plus whilst clearing Hollys cupboard out I found an unopened hot chocolate gift set, a pamper pack (loofah eye mask etc) and an unopened cup/placemat/tray set which I will now re gift for Xmas presents!

OH!!! and to top it off I had a chip / pin card form the post code lottery through the door earlier too with a free gift - filled the bits in online and my card has £12 on it! :)

so having a fairly good day --- since I've been so lucky I've even had a quick go at the lottery too! .

    Well done sammy-Kaye:T:T:T

See, things are turning the corner, oh, I really hope so.:)

You're a little diamond and I hope things owenly(sorry) only, get better and better for you and your lovely family.

    Well done you.:T:T:T

"Yeah I think we are pretty much stuck with each other - :rotfl: he cant be without me and I cant be without him."

Know exactly how you feel Sammy Kaye, it's a good start to making things work out, and what a beautiful girl you are too x

:D Well ...Sammy I've commented before gal (having seen your photo) that you're pretty. Add that you're practical - and well...his luck is in...maybe he is starting to appreciate what he has:D

Anyways - must go and deal with the "food mountain" (grown/foraged/given to me) - I've got an E.U. food mountain all of my own at present and am starting to frantically give it away to anyone I think needs some of it (hmmm...shame you're not living nearby then......).

Brought a bit of it on myself I did - as I thought "Cor - those microgreens that are so fashionable at the moment - and SO expensive:eek::eek: - betcha I could just throw any seeds I've got that turn into edible greens into my soil/compost and then cut them at a few weeks old. Bingo - my own microgreens:D".

So - I've thrown some cabbage seeds into a bit of compost and lo and behold a few weeks later they are at microgreen stage and I'm cutting them off with a pair of scissors and throwing them into salads:D.

I DID make a load of mistakes to start with in buying packets of pretty much any/every vegetable regardless of whether I could manage to grow it with the limited facilities I have:( - and realised since I simply dont have the space for slower-growing veg. like cabbage. I do if I cut them as microgreens at just a few weeks old though and use in said salads:D. Good idea methinks for those packets of cheapie seeds its quite easy to get now:D

They are really hit and miss here Mardartha but we do get some good ones. OH is better at hunting them down than I am. Mealoaf tonight for dinner which is made from 500g of pork mince which was reduced to 50p, 3 red peppers reduced to 10p and hm breadcrumbs, our own hens' eggs and hg herbs.
Very cheapie meal that was on the meal plan anyway.
Eating late tonight as we were foraging along the shore until nearly 5pm and the weather has turned much cooler today. OH has lit the fire but we are fuelling it mainly with offcuts of wood left over from diy jobs and kindling we gathered in the woods. :money:Feeling nice and cosy now. :)
Also sold 2 dozen eggs to the neighbours today which is another £4 to add to the pot. I sell 2 dozen a week now which works ot well as I only pay £10 every 2 months for their feed as they free range and live mostly off scraps. Just hoping they continue to lay throughout the winter...

When they are long gone , no-one is remembered by how tidy their homes were :)

Except by my mother that is:rotfl:....the number of comments she makes about not much housework being done chez ceridwen sometimes are legion....

I DO have to remind myself that she was the archetypal 1950s housewife though. Since she had the first of her children (ie me) she gave up work and then went back to work only very part-time quite some years later. Shes also had the benefit of owning a more modern house than I have as well (ie less trouble to look after). In her circumstances - my house would have been totally immaculate/eat off the floor. In my circumstances (its an old house and I have to hold down a full-time job) then I have to be "realistic" about how much time/energy I can devote to housework. My house will be immaculate - once I retire and have so much more time. Meanwhile....errrr....errrr....:(...draws veil discreetly over state of house sometimes....:o:)

Hi fellow frugalers..not been on for a while been to busy to even get online sometimes.

Wont bore you with exOH/blonde floozie saga other than hes out of the garage, my dad and I are in and all the jobs are safe, business loan paid off so house safe, just the divorce to sort out thats in court next Tuesday so by this time next week I may be a single woman again:p:j:beer:...

I am now working at the garage for a while, console assistant :D serving the petrol and stocktaking, its nice to be back in the workforce again. Was lovley to say cheerio to the JSA office.
Dads paying me minimum wage as we have to keep the costs down to secure the mechanics jobs, I would have died of shame if we had to have closed the garage and make 4 folk redundant after 8 years of loyal service so things are looking up.

Have put the house on the market, have to as OH is entitled to a share, hes moving to Shropshire....:D:D:D:D:D

Im still moneysaving in my little flat, have done everything I can to be prepared for winter and the allotments looking good and ready for full production in the coming year.

My future posts will be to do with winter preps etc just posted an update for the kind folk that PMd me about my situation and gave me there support, such a wonderful community on here.

Can anyone tell me what to do with a chicken carcass ie make stock etc..Ive just touched the surface on batch cooking now need to get riight back to basics and learn them....

Ive come out the other end of this horrible saga, skint but employed with a roof over my head, my integrity intact, now I need to practice OStyle with avengence...anyone any ideas on a cheapo menu for a dinner a deux, plucked up courage to ask handsome hunk from the allotment for a meal:rotfl::rotfl: he said yes....and I blushed as he handed me a bunch of nobbly carrotts ooh errr can you tell Im all a flutter lol....made a carrott cake with em.....and hes bringing some of his homemade wine....wont ever be attracted to a flash geezer with a big car ever again, one with a spade and heap of organic manure will do ....:p

Is cold here today, was 7 degrees when I crawled half asleep into thegarage this morning at 6am and the sky was lovley and red, and the hedges had a white frosty dusting on them, though the days got better as it has passed, quite warm now, am going to walk to work from now on as I love the peace and quiet of the morning when everything is just starting...

so from one lucky but skint frugaller to you all have a nice afternoon, Im off to have freezer sort out and list making session

    Annie56

That all sounds very positive to me:D. Good luck with the Hunk.

You are to be commended for knuckling to and trying to turn the business round and maintain the jobs of everyone in it - kudos to you for that:beer:. Now THAT is what I call integrity.:D

For those of you struggling with housework don't beat yourselves up. ;)
It's true that children grow fast and most mums don't have/want all the time in the world to clean...... but, for me, having a clean and tidy home are important to my mental well being. :o I have always believed in my own case that it's important so I do keep up with it, inspite of the hours I work and I really don't think my girls are neglected. :rotfl:I do know that I get quite down if things get on top of me.:o
As with everything, it's horses for courses but it is possible to have a clean house that is also happy and which doesn't mean you will miss your children growing up. It's just about having different priorities and no one should be judged on their housework standards as long as they are happy. :D
