:mad::mad::mad: I AM SO ANGRY :mad::mad::mad:
Just been watching the BBC News and some silly woman dialed 999 to the Kent police to report her Snowman being stolen... she was very serious.
:mad::mad:
I'd really like to see people like this tracked down and hugely fined for wasting police time, especially at times like this when police resources must be hugely stretched. And a photo of her on the front page of her local newspaper so that all her neighbours know who she is!0 -

It just feels like the last straw with this house. I feel I'm constantly chasing up uncooperative workmen and there are so many problems cos I'm cleaning up after cowboys. I talked to a plumber and hopefully he can come tomorrow.
Right time for some deep breaths and pull myself together.
Arr im so sorry that its all got too much for you this week, I think most of us have real bad days when everything goes wrong and it does,:mad: chin up, and keep warm, have mug of hot choc and cosy blanket, you will soon feel better.....:D0 -

Oh that is terrifying!
I have been trying to remember, was there not a sports centre in Russia or somewhere like that a few years ago that had the roof collapse because of the snow?It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -
NB - I feel your pain with houses!! I am not sending hugs as I will leave that to everyone else. I will send vodka and an axe!! Far more beneficial!!:D
The vodka I'm all in favour of - well more of a gin girl really - but the axe :eek: I'm a little worried now! I'll send the more conventional hugs, I've had weeks like that - heck I've had whole years like that so here's hoping for some good stuff to make up for it. Hope your plumber's a good 'un.0 -

I seem to remember it as a school gym.
Will go googling...:D
Well done for remembering Jackie. It was a market. The school tragedy I was thinking of was not snow related (Beslan).

Thanks a mill everyone - you guys are the best! :T
Vodka and axe could be very interesting! :rotfl:
Feeling a bit better now - it was just the latest in a long line of bad things and it all feels a bit much. Could be a whole lot worse though.
Hugs to all of you who have your own bad stuff to contend with - puts mine into perspective really.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Charis, what was/is the MSE opinion? I heard on the radio that this was being considered and am really dismayed by the idea. I know they say it will cut down on road accidents/deaths which has to be a good thing but the thought of darker mornings for even more of the year makes me want to cry. I find it difficult enough now. Just when mornings are beginning to get lighter in March and the end of winter is in sight, the clocks go forwards and you are plunged backwards and have to do the last few weeks all over again to get back to where you were before.
He wasn't specific about what the opinions were on this website (or the Mori polls, or Ipsos or a couple of others he quoted). There were some good arguments, both for and against, today. An MP from Northern Ireland was keen to make sure that all the counter arguments were listened to and that the change wasn't just railroaded through. There was a young Scottish MP who seemed to think it was clever to be flippant but he got short shrift from one of the older members. Mention was made of both our own aborted attempt at permanent summer time in 1968-71 and Portugal's more recent aborted attempt. One of the reasons they gave up was because it's nigh on impossible to get children to sleep when it's still light at 11pm and their school work was suffering. One of our Government's ministers spent a long time today listing the drawbacks to the proposals.
One thing the supporters keep saying is that it doesn't matter that children will be going to school in the dark as they will then not be coming home in the dark. Since they start at nine and go home at three-ish these days (not four like we used to in the olden days :rotfl:) they currently mostly do both journeys in the light, unless they travel to a school some distance away. There's some deception going on I fear.I can't see any mention of today's discussion on the BBC news site except this although I can see an assortment of the usual headline grabbing nonsense.

Thanks for posting that link Charis.
This is one thing I'm really angry about. GMT which is what we have right now, is the world standard for time. The Greenwich meridian is used to work out time zones all through the world and yet this modern BST is now being considered as not only a permanent thing, but they want to add an extra hour!
I agree with everyone who feels negatively about the sudden dark days when the clocks go back in October. Why should the clocks change in the spring in the first place?? Ok so in April we now get dawn about 5 am - whoop de do, who is up to appreciate it? I get woken up earlier than I'd like by the birds singing, not a positive thing in my book. And in the summer it's light til 11pm at least and light before 4am - why does there need to be any hour change at this time - we do not need light at 11pm, and again who benefits from a pre 4am dawn?
Oh it gets my goat (sorry for the rant) but today it was dark by 3.30pm, another hour and my son would still be coming home from school in the dark at 4.30pm so in my book there's not much difference. Who really benefits from this extra hour of light they want to impose on us at this time of year?
And again apologies for the rant!
