Wow that is a lot of snow! We had about 3 inches in the garden this morning but the big problem in the city centre where I work is ice, it hasn't warmed up enough to melt the old snow and most of it hasn't been cleared from footpaths so large stretches are like skating rinks, I nearly fell earlier. We've got more forecast for tonight but who knows whether it will actually come or not. I'm rather hoping not as it took me 2 hours to get into work this morning as the buses weren't running very well!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member #398 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts :T

We've got snow here this morning as well.
Poor DS is suffering a bit from the cold weather. He's another one with dry skin. We only bath him once a week & use Oilatum in his bath because otherwise he gets dry, red patches on his skin. Well, his face is going all dry and scaley from his drool (he's only 6 months old). I dab it dry whenever I can and we've started putting Diprobase on it, which helps but the poor thing hates having cream put on his face (in fact, he hates any kind of liquid/cream, including water!)
I made a yummy curry-ish bean soup at the weekend and will be having some more with quinoa shortly, at least, I will whenever DS has his nap. He's currently in his cot protesting slightly as I've put him in there while I cook the quinoa. I used the spice mix from this: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Spiced-Quinoa/Detail.aspx but it was in a huge pot with lots of onions, garlic, chilli, seasonings, veg stock & a large heaped tsp of marmite. I used a bean mix I'd soaked overnight and it simmered for over three hours. This seemed to mellow the flavours so there is only a faint hint of curry & the main note is a sort of savoury richness. Will definitely try that again, it's also fairly cost-effective due to the cheap ingredients!
Need to bake more cookies later as I ate the last one for breakfast...0 -
my cats wont go outside either,i tried to push the old one out this morning to go to the loo and she pushed her way back inside again, moaning and grumbling, i know how she feels i have the heating on here 24/7,

And there was me all pleased with my 2" of it
I was all pleased with my store cupboard that I've built up over the last few months, only to discover today, that I'm out of batteries:mad:
only wanted to take snow pic, but if the torch needs them too, I'm stuffed.

Thanks from a Scottish lass living in snowy Oxfordshire.
Must feel like home when it's cold and snowy!
Kitcaboodle, your recipe sounds yummy. I haven't got round to making the quinoa yet but I have saved the recipe.
One problem I have with quinoa is rinsing it as it seems to be too small for the holes in my sieve. Wondering is it just my sieve or how to other folks rinse it?Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!

Reading this im wondering if my 15month olds got the same
Bathed her gain today as her nappyrash is bad again and seems to calm her down as used baby bedtime wash with lavender.
But shes very blotchy on her face too some days.
Still not sure whats up shes been such a grouch last few days and waking 2-3times a night, fighting daytime nap.
On a positive note she was fine on todays school run despite cold had coat and gloves on.
Glad to be home in warm .
im treating myself to coffee as have only just started drinking it again without being sick and my rock hard chunky twinks that hubby says he cant eat but they fone dipped in coffee.
Realised missing few ingrediants for chicken pasties so roasting some reduced chicken and making chicken curry as got jar in cupboard and boil in bag rice. Im hopeless at cooking rice its either soggy mush or burnt to pan.
Had hard day trying to get stuff done as soon as babe woke up from nap she was demanding.
decided against doing lasagane today as too tired will do tommorow instead.
Doing the kids eggs on toast nice and easy.
decided just so tired getting kids in bed at 7pm and me too.
will leave curry and rice covered in fridge and note for hubby when he gets home at 9 as he can just warm in micro then.
Feel sleep deprivations getting to me so need to set sky plus box and get some sleep.
Hubbys day off tommorow so hopefully get more done need him to go up to loft of doom so can start selling baby girl clothes.
Also cant put off nativity costume any longer need to get it in by friday and make sure it looks good.
Hardly any snow here now but still cold and windy.
flowertot mum- glad sams well and home.
Julie the mouse -good luck with job interveiw.
Right bets go get chicken in and clear the laundry.
might be naughty and get uniform and lunch ready tonight.
babys bottles in fridge and expect hubby to wake up in night and get eldest ready tommorow by himself giving me lie in.
That could just be wishful thinking.pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:

got a txt from school at half 2 saying that we could pick the kids up early due to weather - it proper started snowing at half 1ish and just didn't seem to stop!!
got in car to pick Abiane up and it stopped, collected her, got back in car and it started again, really heavy and the roads which were like mush, had started to get white over, didn't like driving in it at all, felt like the car wanted to do its own thing, have to go out in 45 minutes to pick DH up
have still got no idea what we are having for tea, really feel like i cba and really fancy a takeaway so we might have to settle for fish fingers, alphabites and mushy peas(well i might have my fresh fish and DD and DH can have FF)
daren't look out the window in case it's still snowing, can feel myself starting to panic at driving in itdeep breaths and count to 10 and repeat to self: 'you can drive in the snow, just drive carefully and slowly' and continue to repeat!!

You'll be fine, don't panic...remember to use second gear if possible to pull away, you'll get less wheel spin. Try to avoid braking unnecessarily, change from say 3rd gear to 2nd gear to reduce your speed rather than using your brakes, it'll reduce the risk of skidding on ice.
Nice slow movements when steering, look ahead and anticipate the hazards so you don't end up having to brake or steer sharply.
You'll be fine, just relax and take it easy.Piglet
