Soooooo the dehydrator is ordered so that I can dehydrate veggies etc. for the storecupboard and we need to ramp up the MSE'ness as once my money is finished we have virtually no income  Not thinking about that for now...one challenge at a time, now is the time to rebuild my confidence and get myself "grounded" again.

Nice to see you back and looking forward. Can only suggest that you start serious MSe now and maybe that money will laster longer than expected?

Absolutely, I'm pretty careful generally and without the costs of living away I'm hopeful that the three months money can be streeeeetched to six months at least.

We had rubber chicken tonight :D

...and thanks Ceridwen, IIRC you're advice was very very helpful at the time x

Se gets to pick whats off menu but only have her word not sure what portion size or how much she ate plus she had fruit for dessert..

She had been on packed lunces but was begging to go back to scool dinners.
even with packed lunches she dident eat it all and said she dident have time.
Wondering if they get as long as they need and then out to play and wonder if shes rushing lunch for more time in playground.

Tonight she kept saying she was hungry but shes ate so much.
Made conscious effort to not let fruitbowl go empty as she has snacked on crisps and biscuits in past she a terror for snacking .

When she does eat its tv off and at table so shes more aware when shes full and can concentrate.

shes whining now shes hungry just put her to bed.

right bets go get her another snack.

Im ball of stress this week as hubby has final job interveiw friday for job he really wants and be pursuing since july! Feel so nervous.

I'm a dinnerlady at a small village primary school; and what we do is the children come out from lessons at 12.15, go to toilet & wash hands and gather lunch bags by 12.30 all are sat eating lunch, at 12.50 those who have finished go outside with another dinner lady, although there are certain children whose boxes are checked for non eaten food, (some are good at trying to hide their sandwiches and then just eat the choc/cake/crisps) at 1.00 as long as they have eaten their sandwich/wrap/roll/pasta they then pack up and we send a note home telling parents that "A" was slow eating and did not have time to eat the remainder of lunch; if at 1.00 they haven't eaten this much they stay inside until it is eaten and again a note is sent home saying missed out on playtiome as we were ensuring they ate the sandwich etc.
The parents were balloted about this a few years ago when DS1 was there and the majority said they expected the school to make sure the children ate sandwich etc.

For hot dinners which come in from an outside caterer which I then serve up; we say that the children must try at least 2 spoons of things, must have one vegetable.
There is always bread and fruit available if the children are either hungry or did not like the dinner, although as the parents order for them this isn't very often, if the children don't eat much of the main course then we send a note home saying so, and also say what else they had instead.
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
    So we’re empty nesters.
    Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).

    mama67,
That sounds like an excellent supervised system with parental feedback. I wish my kids had been able to have the benefit of such a system. I would have felt less worried about the littley.

The older one was a sludge-gulper, no worries there, need to keep your hands and feet away from her mouth! She's still the same.
  • One of the best places for housing advice is Shelter - its not just for homeless people - their staff are second to none and will give you sound, reliable legal advice. (I worked for a few years as a Homelessness Officer in local Government and had lot of contact with them)

Landlords are legally responsible for repairing/replacing windows regardless of what it says on the tenancy agreement but not for painting or decorating - if the internal plasterwork is cracked or falling off - the landlord is not legally obliged to repair and replace.

Housing Law is notoriously tricky and very few solicitors have good knowledge of the legislation or even the Housing Act...would strongly recommend a call to Shelter if you are experiencing difficulties :)

  • Gailey -you could ask the teachers to speak to the dinner ladies for you see exactly what she is eating. DS1 went on their list for a bit last year as he hardly ate his pack lunch as his friends finished faster than him so he just went out to play.

Have been to Ds1 parents meeting. Hes doing well in maths, starting yr 2 as he has reached year 1 targets. Reading is improving as is writing but they have suggested he may have dyspraxia due to his lack of coordination in PE nad occasionally he has sudden arm movements, hes also very clumsy. They asked why he was in hospital as a baby and explained he was born at 32 weeks but was discharged from peads at nearly 2 yrs old. Have just looked on the internet at what dyspraxia is, he does (as does his brother) have some of the symptoms but we think hes clumsy! Meeting with the SENCO tomorrow hopefully

At my school we have just changed lunchtime so that all classes have to sit for 20 mins to eat lunch. They all still get 25 mins playtime either before or after they eat. We were so fed up with the amount of wasted food and parents complained about packed lunches being half eaten!

On the subject of school attendance and lateness - I will hold my piece as part of my role is school attendance officer!
  • I buy the 20p paper but if there are none left I WILL NOT buy the 40p one as it seems extravegent and like the mantra says if it is twice the price will you enjoy it twice as much. I think not! :rotfl:
