Greent - So sorry to hear that your OH is doing that again (((hugs))) Take some time to yourself before you confront him (if you are going to confront him) and have a long think about what *you* really want.
Same happened to me almost 2 years ago (twins were 2 and a half). I kicked him out and whilst its damn hard at times, I don't regret my decision.
Best of luck whatever you decide to do hun xxxxxxxxxxx0 -
On the subject of expecting young people to live in flat shares. I don't really see the problem with that I must admit!
I spent eight years working in London as a PA/EA, generally a board level PA (working for senior managers & doing more assistant work than secretarial). There is no way I could have afforded even a bedsit without splashing an unhealthily high proportion of my take home pay on it. Flat share was fine & personally I think it's a good idea if you're single. It means you stay used to compromising & living with other people, which makes it easier to adjust if you then wind up in a relationship with someone!
I can't imagine having been able to afford a one bedroom flat in London, it would have cost more to rent than I earned each month unless I'd lived out on the fringes in a really dodgy area! That being the case, I can't really see the harm in a single person on housing benefit only being given the benefit to live as I, as a reasonably skilled professional could afford to live. You really need to be on £50k+ before renting a one bed flat in most parts of Central London.0 -

So true!!! Years of living on my own has made me a right pain in the rear to live with

Big birthday cake for Parsonswife and Zippy :bdaycake:. It's very MSE to share
. Hope you both have a lovely day.
I'm another one who did the flat share thing in 20s. Agree that it helps with give and take, gives you practise in resolving 'issues'. My kids did the same, as do their friends.People are used to a sleeping bag on a settee or a floor if no beds for guests.
Pitlanepiglet - I've twice left a job and both times had no regrets. Scary but oh so good for the health in the long run! Good luck and take time to nourish yourself. Treat yourself as you would a very dear friend.
Greent - so sorry that this is happening to you. Others have given good advice. Thinking of you.
Re are we all skint? Yes but in my case it was partly through choice so not complaining. Am complaining about continuing rise in food prices though! I'm glad that I have time right now to shop around. Got some reduced stuff in MrM this morning so I'm pleased. They have buy one get 2 free in frozen pizza at the moment - Goodfellas I think. Didn't get as we have 2 in freezer and freezer needs defrosting. Handy to have in though as we usually have something like this on a Sat night (but usually it's cheapie home made arrabiatta - oh we know how to live:)). I can def see how some people are having to go down the frozen food route. I think it was Gailey who mentioned seeing it. Tea tonight for us is chicken caesar salad and baked potato. This is the last of Sunday's chicken, and the salad bag was reduced from around £1.50 to 49p. I'm making some veggie soup first. That is one thing I used to do a lot but now do all the time - fill DH up with HM soup as a first course. Gives us plenty of our 5 a day and good to use up bits. I always cut big stalk off brocolli and stick it straight into the freezer, unbagged. When making soup, just take it out and chop up. Grate cabbage stem/ heart into soup as well. Always keep the cooking liquid from boiled veg for soup. Am sure you all do this in your sleep anyway but I thought I'd share:).
Off to read some of my library book (Patricia Cornwell - anyone know another similar writer as I've read most of hers now? Have also read a lot of Kathy Reich although not so keen on her) and have a quiet afternoon.
Take care all

Just been complimented on my work outfit. Told them it was all from charity shops. "How do you do it" said the complimenter. Offered to show them the delights of the local chaz shops but no they only like stuff from Next and someone may have died in the clothes from a chaz shop,eh?
Is it dinner time yet?
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Love this, so funny, all our clothes are from the Charity shops now and i have much better quality clothes than i ever could have afforded previously. I am so lucky too, whtever we need seems to turn up at the right time. DH asked me to keep an eye out for a cardy for him last week, yesterday got him a truly lovely dark grey, chunky wool knit cardy, you know those ones with pockets and leather covered buttons, for just £3.50, he was soo chuffed and said it was exactly what he wanted:)
Just put in my first order from Allied Foods fter seeing that there is a 10% discount code on Martins newsletter, got all the way through to payment page and the pyment wouldn't go through, think they must have too many people trying to buy at the same time, had about 6 confirmtion of order emils from the though, so not sure what to do now.....
Greent, just seen your post, my heart goes out to you honey, big hugs xx[/QUOTE]
Thankyou hun I try my best to stay positive but some days get down, stressed and genarlly irritated by life.
Some weeks seem like hard slog that what we get out does not equate to hard work put in guess most people feel like that with taxes , rising costs, stuff taken away feel like being hit in all directions and trying to take cover and protect ourselves from the worst.
When you have made all the changes and keep cutting back its sort of becomes surviving not living as we all wonder how much more we can do as we all seem to try so hard.
Greent-sent you pm hun, so sorry for bad news.
2choices really ultimatum and try and rebuild trust on promise he wont cheat again or give in on grounds of is adultury but its so hard when kids involved have time to reflect what do you really want, whats you feelings now trust betrayed as its so not fair.
Take some inspiration from annie love her stories about her ex!
Margereat hope hubbys happier in new job sounds awful.
Stars and moon-micra was fatherinlaws dident think we could afford to run 2cars but its costing us less as cheaper to run for single man traveling 62miles a day to work by himself, hes none too happy about lack of powersteering or not really driving over 50 mph but its cheap on petrol, cheap to tax/insure and sailed through mot unlike dreaded bm and if he accidentally runs someone over on school run or attacks a wheely bin then he be fine:rotfl:
Hells bells-hope you better soon
I think housings jsut so expensive and so out of proportion with income weather you rent or buy hence why people had to get morgage 5-6times their salary. but private rents if you work and dont get housing benefit are quite high especially in cities so most people not got much choice but to share.
yes it be nice to have some privacy but why should someone working and in house share fund another single person to have their own flat? As long as governement prepared to put roof over their head either social or private then we better off then a lot of other countries.I feel only one whos made money out of it is the landlords who charge extortionate rent and dont keep properties in good repair.
Tuition fees tough one I was first year intake they broight them in .
It hasent got me well paid job of my dreams.
Think ist because so many go to uni these days you have to do masters or internship to get the better jobs.
Some professional ones like vets, doctors and law take years training and probably harder for lower income familes to consider these professions.
Least they rising limit from 15grand to 21grand before they pay a penny and fees not upfront ect allthough think it should be same rules for scotland and wales to make it more fair.
but it is alot to pay off tuition fees, maybe get married, save deposit and have afamily think you would need an incredible salary or helping hand to have it all.
Im not sure we can have it all these days times have changed.
Not sure if thats short term whilst economy recovers or it will stay that way and we will have to make some choices.
Think there should be more investment in fe colleges and give clever young people a viable alternative to good career without going to uni.
Only on breckfast news private healthcare provider moaning cap means they be worse off seems sad we have to always rely on abroad rather than have trained people in this country wanting to do nursing.
Its the skilled professions in the middle they need to focus onpad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:
Pay off as much as I can 2011 £15008.02/£15,000:j
new grocery challenge £200/£250 feb
KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON:D,Onwards and upward2013:)0 -
Have just finished my first Big Brands order cost £20 but over £5 of that is delivery. have taken the plunge and ordered as there was a code about earlier for double the order for free, (at least that was how I read it anyway) but now slightly worried where I will store 12kg flour, 7kg scone and doughnut mix, 7kg muffin mix, 7kg bread and roll mix.:eek: Avoided the rice pudding etc but did manage to save a little on toilet roll as 9 rolls were £2.99 which means I should get 18 rolls for the £2.99 which is about an 90p saving on H&B, and as we now use at least 2 rolls a day :eek:(DS6) I need as many rolls as possible as cheap as possible without compromising on softness (DS6 again). Any idea how long delivery will be, email says 2-4 days, but wondering if its likely to be nearer Monday or if may arrive Friday?
Am feeling very out of sorts today, as the kids all came home from school with letters yesterday, most wanting money before Friday and others needing m y attendance at events tonight and tomorrow. This really irritates me as there is no way schools organise these events this last minute, yet they just choose not to inform parents, I have tried complaining but school do absolutely nothing about it,0 -
Happy Birthday Parsonswife and ZippyXX. I agree with you Kidcat about the schools.I have a meeting to go to early next Wednesday afternoon but I only know about it because I was chatting to the school secretary. She said notes are going out on Monday!! If I was working there would be no way that I would be able to go at such short notice. I'm going to tell as many of the Mums that I can as quite a lot of them work and will obviously have to sort something out and I'm also going to complain to the Headmistress at the meeting!! It's just not on!! On a better note, I 'wandered' into the local Iceland which I do nearly every day (hence my name) and found a load of meat half-price so nabbed enough of it for the rest of the month!! I had just completely blitzed my rather large freezer so am delighted. I keep opening the door and looking at my lovely clean freezer filled with meat! I'm so sad!!0
