    Afternoon folks :)

Had big spend day yesterday as DDs needed winter boots and fleece PJs, then they saw some cute ear muffs which they asked for and as they were cheap £2 from Primani I thought i'd get them those too. DD actually slept in hers :D Not because its so cold in our house but because she loves them so much :D

Also had to get myself some new boots but they were on sale in Clarks so got £10 off those. My last ones have lasted a good few years and still look great but something in them has gone wrong as the heels feel wonky when I walk which is no good for the ole knees.

Picked up some bits for next summer in Primani sale (for DDs) as were reduced to £1!!! :money:

Have been quite down recently despite doubling anti Ds so house is a bombsite - its never been so bad. I am going to go and takle the kitchen in a minute. Kids are back to school tomorrow so must find school uniforms - maybe I already washed and put them away, not sure.

Made pom poms with DDs yesterday from cheapy wool from Wilkos (had no idea we had a wilkos near us :D) and cut up wine box :o They were so proud of their results - its great when kids complete a project. They get so much satisfaction from it. They will take their pom poms on their show and tell days this week :D

Sitting here shivering as I am so tired... does anyone else feel the cold so much more when they are sleepy? Kids are warm so its just me :(

If I got off my butt and did some cleaning I am sure I would warm up but gonna go and see if there are any clean mugs and have a hot cuppa instead :rotfl:

Anyone heard from Chillout ? I was looking forward to the further installments on the chemical pipe explosion in her kitchen on the Prep for Winter thread :rotfl:

Cooked and froze a whole bag of baking potatoes last week - we had some for lunch today, just bunged in microwave from frozen - perfect!!! No more spuds in the bin/composter :)

Hope everyone is having a good day :)

    :)Good evening all

I'm sat here watching the Hairy Biker's Cook Off. I could pick up two of them raspberry roulades, one in each hand, right now.:rotfl:

It is pitch dark outside already and I'm not a happy bunny. I hate it.

Got a small pork belly been slow roasting in the oven, so will have to pacify myself with that.:D

    Have a good evening.:)

My little girl has grown out of all her shoes! Had her measured today at she's gone up a whole shoe size. However, can we find a pair of shoes that fit her - nooooooo! The problem is that she has really really narrow feet and none of the shops stock her size. I'm a bit funny with shoes and I will pay extra for a really good fit for her as I know what damage badly fitting shoes can do. Not sure where else to look.

On an OS front bought some lovely meat from the butcher today and he threw in some extra lean mince and sausages for free. :A

Jediteacher - we have always struggled with shoes for DD16, narrow feet and narrow ankles - we usually ended up at Start Rite instead of clarks, they cost bit more but I found they lasted longer and stayed in better condition.

Car now back all done - two hundred pounds gone, and its come back with a list of other jobs t o be done!!!! Worse it never gets very warm in the winter (has been the same for three winters now) and dad took OH to collect it for me as I am feeling awful today, and decided to book it back in tomorrow to have heating sorted!! Am not happy as its not urgent - I carry blankets etc to keep warm, and its going to be hundreds again, which I really cannot afford - trouble is mechanic is a friend and has rearranged his day to fit it in as a favour for us now so am going to let him down if I dont take it in. Either way its not good, I appreciate my dad means well but his interference here is upsetting.

Thanks for the tip but we have been to start rite and they have no shoes at all in her size. :( Looks like we'll have to order online and then send back what does not fit.

  • I managed to make DS's fleece suit yesterday. It was an absolute nightmare as it's only the second time I've ever followed a pattern (the first was to make my wedding dress - which, as it was grecian style, wasn't that tricky!). Wasted ages putting in tailor tacks that I never referred to & just got in the way. Also had problems with the thread on my machine bunching up or breaking when I sewed in the zip (the rest of it was OK). I think I had the wrong type of needle in as playing with the tension didn't solve it - but I'm too much of a novice to know what to use instead.

Anyway, it's done now & looks great from the outside! it's only when it's un-zipped and you see the really dodgy stitching on the inside of the zip that you know what a bodge job it was! Still, he will now be warmer in the autumn. It's designed for that period between it being warm enough to not need anything and it being cold enough for winter snow suits or thick coats. Also for if it's cold indoors. Looks nice and cosy anyway. :)

I have exactly the same problem with my DD... a c/d width fitting and high instep so she can't wear the dolly/strap shoes comfortably.... I find at the moment the clarks little ankle boots with the strap across the ankle fits well.... If you have a clarks nearby then you can 'order' several pairs online to be sent to store at no extra cost or obligation..... Brilliant especially when they don't tend to stock the 'odd' sizes that often
